There been reports of issues, but those issues doesn't affect 100% of the vehicles produced worldwide the chances of getting one affected is minimal IMHO.

Fiat are not without problems, nor is the KA.

I don't think youd see it holding its price if you traded in, private sale possibly but a part ex trade in I doubt it.

I would be looking for one with all gadgets and gizmo's (Mii AC SE) or something like that which is worth just above the equivellant of base spec VW up. you get more for less essentially due to its brand name.

Holding the price isn't really too much of an issue I suppose, as I look to buy a car and keep it for at least ten years.

Also, I want basic basic basic - no air con, no electric windows, no central locking, really don't want any gizmo's - except power steering of course!

Save up for the i10, it's a proper supermini and not just a citycar.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I've been running an Up for the past 2 1/2 years, if you have any questions feel free, I'm happy to point out both it's strengths and weaknesses.

that rules out all things modern then if this is your criteria in a basic car.

Basic models these come with A/C (depending on brand) central locking, Bluetooth stereo, parking sensors, power windows etc.

My point was, if your looking at the "up", for the same money you could have a better spec in a sister company "up" model such as the citigo SE or Mii SE compared the more expensive BASIC "UP S", those sister models will be more "desirable" to future dealers to Part ex or for you to sell private in 10 years to "newly passed young drivers" im thinking future proofing to maximize the sell on potential later on down those lines.

That's the Take Up! or the Citigo S described pretty well. Steel wheels too.

    It's a nice drive.
  • The UP is a fantastic little motor and has great reviews across the board.

Not much of a looker in my opinion - but beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Don't mind the new C1 either - haven't driven one though.

Neither, I'd go for a second hand Polo. Far better car all around.

I don't travel any long distances in my car, so basic suits;)

Also, can't stand these daytime running lights, what is that about?

and furthermore, why don't they provide a spare wheel anymore? All of the waffle about more space and better economy is just an excuse to supply you with an aerosol and thus save them money:mad:

The up/citigo does have daylight running lights but they are conventional bulbs so blow frequently (because they're on all the time) and there is no bleeping warning light to tell you they've gone. So a lot of owners just drive around with the bulbs gone.

A spare wheel does not come as standard. But there is space for one under the boot floor and it can be specified as an accessory or ordered later.
