When a brothel moves in next door

This might be a bit off topic, but I am hoping that there are some experienced landlord here who can help me with this. I live on the block with my wife and daughter. It's a quiet community, and is in one of the safer area near Canary Wharf in London.

A couple of young European girls have moved into the flat next door and there are clearly prostituting going out on a daily basis. Sometime they would still be in their dressing grown when they show where the customer should park. One thing I did notice is that they don't appear to have the key to the flat and have to knock every time if they wanted to come back in. Anyway, It looks like business are going really well and every day several men would come to the flat on separate occasions. This area is probably quite appealing as it is quite affluent so I would image the clientèle are willing to pay a bit more

Now I have no real gripes with prostitutes, if that's how you wish to make a living and as long as you are happy with doing it and not being forced then so be it but I cannot put up with this when I have a 1 year old daughter.

The landlord, who has a MBA, refuse to accept the flat is being used as a brothel and ask for us to provide evidence. But knowing an apartment is being used as a brothel is one thing - proving it is entirely different. Customers are unlikely to stand up in court and testify that they went to the flat for a "happy ending", rather than a massage.

I am doing some research to find that what I can do but would be grateful if anyone here can give me some advice.

What difference does it make if the LL has a MBA?

Have you contacted the police about the alleged illegal activities?

I wonder if the leasehold has a clause preventing businesses being run from the properties.

Maybe in this case MBA stands for My Brothel Administration!

I think (from watching The Bill so this may not be 100%) that if more than one prostitute is operating from a premises, then it is illegal. I would report this to the police and see what they say.

When you state young European presumably you mean English?

When you reported the matter to the Police & requested a CRN what happened??

When you reported to the Council about the change of use from residential to commercial & therefore probably breaking some planning matter, what did the council do about it??

When you informed Police that the MBA (More Brothels Available??) holding Landlord was "living off immoral earnings" what did they do??

When you informed HMRC about the probably fraud by both landlord & the young ladies what happened??
    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/reportingfraud/

Have all the other neighbours made similar complaints??

However, as Thatcher noted, you can't fight the market... Free Enterprise will win out... she said (others hold alternative views, including me..)

Worries me: Make sure Police know & also local councillors, MP & MEPs. & Red Cross (who have traffic resource, although probably hugely overstretched...)

    - It sounds like they could be trafficked & are not allowed keys, or their passports etc etc. Nasty people, needing a good kicking (the people doing the trafficking)

I just searched the OP's other three posts in the hope of more salacious twaddle.

    Sadly, I was disappointed.

    Shame on you Moneycantbuyyourhappiness. :D

  • Don't forget to notify the local Council that the place is due to pay business rates, rather than Council Tax

...after you've told HMRC, your local councillors, etc, etc.

Just try making life "interesting" (ie very difficult) for them and they will probably move on..
