In 2005/6 the Director General of the BBC earned £609,000.
So more speculation and lack of facts from those that can't be bothered checking anything
Defiant - unlike you I have provided facts, something you don't seem to recognise in any way.
I am happy for this all to stay on topic but your paranoid rantings which are unsubstantiated only devalue any argument you have.
Stick to the facts and then people will have a grown up debate with you I am sure.
Even I would be happy to debate this topic with you, but you seem incapable or unwilling to recognise your failings.
£609,000!!! That is ridiculous!! That means that over 4511 households had to pay a TV Licence for one mans salary!! SACK HIM!! If the BBC is a public service they should all have to work for public sector wages! See how long they take to scrap the licence and go private then!!
No one else gets away with forcing you to subscribe to there service so I can’t see why the BBC should! It wouldn’t be so bad if it was any good but I’ve never seen so much junk in my life!
I can honestly say I have never watched a program on the BBC (or listened to the radio) for years so why should I have to pay for it!    :mad:0 -
I pay £11.25 to the BBC for channels 1, 2, 3 4 Radio 1, 2, 3 ,4 and local radio.
I pay £11.25 to the BBC too, and get nothing.0 -
Everone go's on about bbc not having adverts, so is it only me that gets fustrated watching the same adverts for bbc programs which are coming on in the future. it seems they put more and more on, it takes up just as much time as adverts on the other channels0

seeing as though they are about to do away with analogue tv and change to digital, what is going to happen to people with ananlogue tv's that will no longer get a signal, will they have to pay the licence fee?0

Within the next ten years if we dont get a price increase, which seems impossible, we would pay the BBC 1400 pounds!. what in the world!. this is my money, put 15 minutes breaks in between shows, i never even pay attention to them and its always fast forward on my pvr.
i dont wholly agree with BT line rentals, but they are at least providing a service as they installed something and i need to use it. 1320 in the ten years but this is at least optional. I dont or need to watch BBC.
I really really think we and Martin should start a campaign against this BBC virus.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"0 -
Stop the battle between Sky and BBC, one is optional one is force-fed.
This is disgusting and I dont know how Martin feels about this and would like his honest opinion because we SHOULD get the option to have the licence fee scrapped if I tick an option that I dont want their radio, BBC1-12 or website. Its the worst monolopy to ever hit this nation, its side by side with banks and their penalty charges.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives

When he was on The Wright Stuff and this subject came up he didn't seem to like talking about it because he said he gets work from them so that should tell you everything you need to know about Martin on this subject0 -
One more question for the anti-tv licence people...
Do you not watch the BBC on principle, or do you genuinely hate every single programme on all their radio, tv and internet channels?
I can't understand the latter argument, because there really does seem to be something for everyone these days.
As well as all the high quality comedy and documentaries etc. etc. the BBC also punts out quite a bit of low brow pap that is comparable to Sky and ITV.
I think it has to be a minority that never watches anything...
(That isn't to say £135 is worth it, so calm down.)
Oh, and to the people that thought I was mean spirited for suggesting most people can afford the licence, even on a low income, I think the free BBC channels are pretty good value to someone on a limited income that can't afford Sky (like me). As many others have said...its still cheaper than a newspaper every day.0
