I've been doing an unwitting clear-out a bit tonight:eek:! :oAfter the Vimto in the drinks cabinet that turned out to be BB April 2014:eek:, I got some Apple Pie out of the freezer a bit earlier and then thought I'll have the custard! I only ever bought one sachet of Custard Mix (S/P) in the first place as we just "never" will use it although, somewhere, there is a tin of S/P RTE Custard (which I started getting after I decided the low weight of the sachets meant they are too dear:laugh:). Well - I found it: September 2014!:):rotfl::rotfl::o:rotfl: It tasted lovely!!:):T I also like eating custard powder itself - so, had a bit of that before I did the actual mix, and lovely again!:T:j
I found some LL Orange Juice - didn't like that as Orange Juice, apparently specifically among the juices, although others last, that doesn't quite, so that went down the drain:( - never mind - but onto the other juice I have instead.
Earlier I found a carton of Celebrations right at the back of the cupboard, behind the Pringles (the ones from two glitches ago:() that are BB Feb 15, Mar 15 and May 15 and using those now! At least it prolongs the McCoys, Discos and NikNaks that have a nasty habit of being taken (by my companions:() despite being good for another few months (and then some). The Celebrations were BB February 2014, so a year out of date! Chocolate normally lasts ages - took one taste of a couple of them though, didn't like them so they went.
But at least we do seem to be wasting a lot less than what a lot of people (and indeed supermarkets) are. We don't throw much out - as in not consumed - though we do seem to be having a little struggle using up fresh milk at the moment for some reason - apart from that, we certainly aren't chucking stuff every other day. I think it's the lack of impulse buying that is helping it! It was mentioned earlier about people picking up so-called "bargains" around the store, in unplanned shops, and finding they were getting a far bigger bill - it's the succumbing to those isn't it surely I feel? I can remember (this isn't an attempt to answer Evangeline even yet btw:D:( - I think I concede defeat on that attempt) when our household used to shop like muggles, just getting a whole list every week, what we'd ran out of, rather than pre-planning, and then picking up more and we were chucking fresh veg. and stuff nearly every other day. So, this money-saving and this buying approach is certainly a general double-saver on that too! Less waste - only get how much you think you will need in the time that it will be usable for. I can allow myself another S/P Custard Mix at some stage:rotfl::D. It was really nice - I've no idea why people buy Bird's:rotfl:! (On the ingredients in fact... and this is now the point at which I should have finished writing...;);):D, it's got sugar and whey powder and maize starch and coconut oil and milk protein. Sugar is sugar. Whey powder is whey powder and all the other things are standard too - they're all the same IMO and no need to go for the brands!:rotfl:)
I've yet to make a 'decision' on the Vimto btw. I'll open it - and if it 'fizzes', I might try and if it tastes alright, I'll have it. If it doesn't fizz, might not bother and may just get rid. Bet it won't fizz:rotfl:.0 -

Just back from the pub - went to see Mr Gray at 6pm, he was lush
. aau1, I did have the sausage  :rotfl:
Seriously though, I booked the tickets just before Christmas with the O2 moments code so a cheap night out. DH and I were sat at the back right in the corner, the cinema was rammed.......... With women! Only 3 blokes in there so I stuck DH in the seat against the wall and put my coat over him. He didn't utter a word and was the first person out his seat at the end :rotfl:

I am glad he is getting support and some aspects are definitely needed but I worry that it so much a case of trial and error as every child, on the spectrum or not, is different. If they make mistakes in their delivery of programs or manipulate his personality and it has a negative impact to his future happiness and wellbeing it will be down to me as I instigated the interventions. But, doing nohing could have been the wrong thing too....
it's just about doing what feels right the same as every other parent does for their kids I suppose.
Thanks Savvy :A
Wrong! It will not be down to you at all. If they make mistakes, then they've made mistakes and it's their fault. Come on - snap out of that logical fallacy of blaming yourself, even though it's the natural thing to do.
My thoughts as to "manipulate his personality", "negative impact on... happiness and wellbeing" are complex. On the other hand, 'we' are easily manipulatable (there - I'm a word-smith again: new word!) in certain things, i.e. social-wise, but not our opinions when we believe we are right - but then, so again, are 'normal' people able to be manipulated in other areas (by brand-names in various places on supermarket shelving maybe). I am sure this is not an exercise in social engineering by the education system. I have faith in our education and health services in fact.
I don't know - I'm sure he'll be happy and have a good wellbeing (that said the condition itself does pose limits - but then maybe his learning of body language will overcome that: it didn't with me as never learnt it so it's consigned me to not having a relationship or a wife or kids - but then life does throw up things and I'm fairly happy with where I am at this point, even though I don't know where things are going. There are people on this thread that like me:D:D:D:D.)
Whether he's happy with being an Aspie or not - different people take things different ways, but they also get support from others and you will play your role there I know.
As to a negative impact on happiness and wellbeing, whilst there are people that go into periods of depression - and depressive illness:( - happiness, and indeed sadness, themselves are fluctuating things and no-one is completely happy (or sad) constantly. You have periods where you're happy, then you become past it and start getting bored and sad and then you become happy, at various things, again. That's how I see it anyway. (I'm probably seeing it simplistically and missing some gist point.)0 -

Yes, I might need some fizz (see my amended post above). Apparently - and this bit following is typical Aspie response btw - bottles of fizz are likely not to last as long as soft drink in cans though. (Are they really, Savvy? (Glazed eyes, unseen:rotfl:.)) Well, the bottles will last, even though they may become misshaped and leach chemicals, but the fizz in them won't last as long as the stuff in cans (possibly because of what the bottle is doing to the fizz, over time, may become a concern - still last months beyond the BB in either case though, if stored properly).
............................^^This is the key.
So there could be life in my Vimto cans yet!! (I doubt it:rotfl:.)
Yes, I think you need your specs:rotfl::rotfl:.
Regarding my S/P Custard Mix earlier (even changing the subject does not help;)), it was fine and I noticed it said "Store in a cool, dark place". Maybe it didn't, maybe I'm making it up. Anyway...no darker place than the inside of a sachet I felt!:rotfl::rotfl:
Spaghetti in cans - store in a cool, dark place. Is the inside of a tin dark enough then d'you think?:p:rotfl:
EDIT: Bet I've missed the point - bet you mean "champagne" by "fizz" and not soft drinks:rotfl:.
EDIT 2: Does the above look okay to everyone? The arrowed phrase should be pointing roughly to the bold "if stored properly".0 -
