Savvy...I only ever buy grapes at christmas...they are overpriced even more at that time of year but at least i'm not buying them the rest of the year too.
I'm pleased about that, but you are in a minority. My shoppers buy them every flamin' week:(:rotfl:.
:(Sorry to read your post fully now and realise that you're paying the overpriced price:eek: even if once a year. Avoid them entirely, I say, until they are 99p for the right amount of quantity. Or, in fact, £2 for 900g is better - but then that's getting you to pay more:(:rotfl::rotfl:. Supermarket trickery everywhere and, even though we 'win' a lot, they still seem to win everywhere else. Glitch on everyday essentials?!?:(0 -

a question please for anyone who has diesel
I know you are supposed to in cold weather keep a certain amount in your tank so you are not driving on the sludge at the bottom of the tank - is this amount half a tank?
MY OH has a quarter of a tank and he said that as the weather is cold we need to keep at least half a tank as the top 50% solidifies to jelly
Is this so or is it one of those urban myths.
this discussion went on as we drove into !!!!!! but he conceded the point, at least for now. We were collecting the click and collect - nearly £38  - most I've spent in !!!!!! for months plus another fiver in store - but at least the impending cat food crisis is averted - so I think OH had the common sense and thought better of pushing things any further by spending £50 in the petrol station and really sending me over the edge.
we have 2 diesel cars and they are usually roughly a quarter full and never had any problems0 -
Never heard of that with diesels, and I worked for a car hire company for years and drove all kinds of car with very little fuel in, in all weathers. Its not a good idea to drive a diesel till its empty, because unlike a petrol, the diesel needs to be flushed through to the engine, which can drain the battery, or need a pro to do the job.
A modern diesel engine has coils to heat the fuel in cold weather, and I do know that diesel can freeze (truck drivers in Siberia will light fires under their tanks to defrost it in the mornings), but never heard of it turning to jelly.
At least having a full tank is not a waste, it will get used, even if it does impact cash flow.
Just done a google, and it does gel, but at about -17 degrees c, so unless you live in the artic circle, its not an issue. And having a full/half tank would not make that much difference in it happening, maybe delay it by a small amount.0 -

Good. I think, at that high price (£2.37 each), really need to wait for an mbuy almost inevitably to go on - 2 for £3 to suggest you're saving - quite often offer price is £1 - and then buy before that gets picked up (midnight to 6am anyone?:)) with somewhere else hopefully being at that £1 (or a bit cheaper:D) price.0 -
I'm new to this bank switching but I've a rubbish current account I use for my small supermarket, cashback shops.
When they say £1000 a month can it be the same one recycled from a to b then back to a??
Please and thank you0 -

thanks for the voice of reason - I will impact this voice of reason to my OH when he next starts on about his diesel tank freezing down :rotfl:“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Yes, for most accounts it is £1000 (or whatever they say) in total rather than in one transaction. So you could arguably transfer from a to b to a to b etc until £1000 total (though a faff - if you had £1000 to transfer then do it once then back again).
Yorkshire Bank/Clydesdale are offering £150 to switch until the end of this month - and it appears that you may be able to open more than one account (so long as you have more than one external account to switch). The linked thread gives more details and discussion.
Prepare yourself for the application process through - phone (or branch) based, at least 30 mins to apply which sees like a lifetime when they are reading T&Cs out to you on the phone and potentially (likely) frustration with the paperwork coming through (or not - so many examples of missing paperwork from joining packs!)). But £150 (... per account) makes it worthwhile.

I've also had a email from the, spend £20 this weekend, get a till spit with extra nectar points, everyone wins something from £1 worth upwards (or possibly only £1 worth)
Your selection of till spits and mailings looks very complicated, they are combinable if you get a helpful boy at the till
The only one that looks do-able is the
£4 wys £20 combined with 1000 points.
There is nothing you can buy in Sainsburys that is not a rip off
[...]
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
You do need to get 'ripped off' in order to get the BM vs A (which itself tends to be rip-off items unfortunately - round pounds or, recently, round 98ps, which are worse than the half price offers that come on elsewhere - no wonder S chose only to compare vs A and to drop T from the scheme!). You can combine rip-off brands with own brands that are very cheap compared to elsewhere (best of luck on that one:(:rotfl:).
I'll try and help if I can but not got my head back around it right at this minute. I used a lot of A r'back items in S - which I don't like at all in A (unless they then translate into a more expensive mbuy) - but the r'backs are usually very high priced, by Elite standards certainly, so need to make sure your cond spends really offset the losses that are mounting up by comparing against expensive "cheaper in A (preferably more than 10% cheaper in A)" items. I think the cond spends probably usually amount to much the same (as the 10% vs elsewhere discount from A) - probably why A does not dish them out. I much prefer roll-forwards in A itself that are much cheaper somewhere else!
You could have a look at my Mvs A list, exclude all of the own brands, to see if they are some good items on there - however it is very very out of date now (and won't be being updated) so probably best to go onto msm and look at some of the (cough) savvy buys in A. Then try the "under £1" shelf in A. Or wait for me to come up with an Svs A, which I might well now do.
Mine was with built-up Nectar points (built up over the year) which covered almost the entire cost of my shopping and with a special promotion, not available to most people, that gave a lot of Nectar points back.
Beware the BMs expiring in just two weeks - so they get you shopping again more. Might need to space out shops though in order to stretch your BMs so that you still have a BM able to use off a shop when your 1000 points eventually materialise. Or you could just spend the BM amounts (preferably on items half or more the price at A, and need 10 different ones:eek:) until you can get no more out of them and end up with 'cheapest' in S item.0
