So, back from A, with a Homepride receipt from late yesterday morning that would have been extremely helpful if it had turned up yesterday!!(:rotfl:)
:(Been ripped off on essential items again, even though paid entirely in voucher form. Apparently I saved £1 because of an mbuy. I do not think I did. Really I paid far more, due to much higher individual price on the items, and even after mbuy still much higher price by weight, than acceptable non-comparable equivalents available elsewhere, viz. Aldi.
I filled up with petrol - after weeks of putting in the minimum amount possible because I felt prices may come down. Prices still stubbornly stuck on the same price and have not fallen further at all. I think they may now rise soon. I hope so now. Oh well, if they don't, at best it's 'only' 2p per litre, so probably equivalent to having bought one more pack of S/P Fish Fingers from them than I actually did - or having used an extra 10p sweet on each of 6 comp. shops. People, you should stop buying, then the prices might come down;).
I was also visiting someone, so popped into a smaller A on the way. Don't know why I bother though - I found one receipt there and saw two items in a row: £1.97 Cathedral Cheese and £1.50 grapes:(:(. They must sell loads of grapes at that price. Remember that the loss leading price on grapes is 99p or £1 (or at least I assume so given that is the offer price when they go on offer elsewhere - good offer I mean, not one of these "was £1, now 2 for £3:(" tricks). They are therefore overcharged - they're becoming as bad as Sains.:rotfl:
Is this just an A thing? Or do people keep buying grapes in T and S too? I think it is says a great deal more about the location of items in the stores, at the fronts of stores and on the aisle ends, than it does about consumer preferences. It shows to me that people generally are so easily gullible and able to be manipulated in this way. I wish I could use these tactics of manipulation to my advantage. Sadly I don't think I can:(. What are people generally manipulated by? I presume things like emotion, and therefore something I'm unable to tug at:(:rotfl:.0 -

Is that a bit better...
Good afternoon all
No, not at all. Shows ruddy Homepride Sauce at £1.58 individual instead of 98p, therefore suggests glitch is over:(:rotfl:. However, good afternoon!:)
Nonetheless, I did get a good receipt - the Homeprides being the major help despite other items that were quite more expensive in T. It was definitely worth going to A just now therefore. It just shows how, on the Chilli Sauce, and even on the Shepherd's Pie sauce, T is more than half the cost even after A's mbuy.
That is not a saving at all in my view. It is an increased price compared to the price yesterday of 98p each. So, a supermarket's statement of "saving 16p" is a "charging you more £1.04":(. Neither does it appear to bear any relationship to being 10% cheaper than the competitor - despite the competitor being 60p, they don't need to match or even beat that at all but instead increase their pricing and most customers will pay that and a small minority of receipts are ever checked.

The mbuy appearances on the Homeprides were good, as they paid 98p each (yesterday's receipt). I would have been absolutely appalled though if they were £1.58 each - they should have missed the mbuy and compared fully with that extra 8p:rotfl:.
I did mention the Homeprides yesterday, but sadly I don't think we knew they were glitching - and my cautiousness again, but then we didn't know it would work. I don't use them, so wouldn't have bought them but people - you have to take me a step further sometimes, because sometimes I only get halfway.
Fwiw, yes, the McVities Golden Syrup Cake did compare vs M at 64p. However, not having any of that anymore - unless there's at least 55p back in some cashback way for example - as cakes go onto whoopsies at 9p. The CBY Sage & Onion compares vs Morries at 27p, but again more expensive than S/P (which can be a bit temperamental at times vs M but which is normally against T (and just 15p as we know, T is currently 15p albeit not as good price by weight as some Paxo comparison was quite a while ago)).
Very expensive prices there - the Knorr Gravy goes down to £1, but even that is too dear as the 8 pack is occasionally £1.50 elsewhere so I'd wait for that:).0 -
a question please for anyone who has diesel
I know you are supposed to in cold weather keep a certain amount in your tank so you are not driving on the sludge at the bottom of the tank - is this amount half a tank?
MY OH has a quarter of a tank and he said that as the weather is cold we need to keep at least half a tank as the top 50% solidifies to jelly
Is this so or is it one of those urban myths.
this discussion went on as we drove into !!!!!! but he conceded the point, at least for now. We were collecting the click and collect - nearly £38  - most I've spent in !!!!!! for months plus another fiver in store - but at least the impending cat food crisis is averted - so I think OH had the common sense and thought better of pushing things any further by spending £50 in the petrol station and really sending me over the edge.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
