She got 1 of the Lily's and 1 of the Thorntons to check and when they worked she tried to get more but SA at self service came to help even though no help was requested and said they couldn't give it to her for 1p and took them away. My sister said she was going to go later when staff change shifts but I told her that I very much doubted they would still be there. It would have been nice if we had the scan as you shop in that particular store. It has the biggest trouts I've ever seen anywhere.
Always worth knowing the link to this to show them.

If I have done a test shop, then I always try and get all the rest in one go through self service. I usually do it in batches, so 10 or 15 items, depending how busy the area is, so if someone does get nosy I get to keep the ones I have paid for. If someone does come over, I try and have a joke about it, keep them talking whilst hitting the pay now button and putting some money in the slot (always get cash out of pocket/purse before you start scanning so can do this quickly), as once paid for, goods are mine. I have even put money in the till before hitting the total button before and that worked.
If push comes to shove I would get the article out (link above) and show it to them. Last resort though, and results in a manager coming over.
If they do take them off you, they either buy them themselves, call a friend in and let them purchase them, or they go into the staff room to be sold off with profits to charity (so we have been told). Although I have heard that sometimes they go straight in to the crusher and binned.
I have also been able to get some with the promise that I put them straight into the the Food Bank collection point (which I have done).0 -

Clubcard number is on the bottom of the revelant credit card on my card.

Would that be next to the writing that says club card number:o what a doughnut. I looked on the statement never thought about the actual card.
Thanks gocat.
Thing is the cc number isn't mine or mr monkeys c card:(
I did wonder why the points weren't changing on the statement...0 -

Thanks for that. My sister didn't know their policy which is why she didn't fight it so when she came home (before she tried the other store) she asked me and I told her that she is allowed to buy them for 1p as I remembered reading about their policy about a year or 2 ago. At least she was able to get the first 2, but I told her next time she should be quick with the scanning for the rest. The second batch was only 6 boxes but the SA was already watching her from the start so i guess you could say it was already doomed lol.
I'll have that link saved though and send it to her.0 -

Thats strange. Dont they ask you for the clubcard number you want to use, when you signed up to the credit card
That's what I presumed. Mr Monkey sorted it all out last year but he probably didn't put in a cc number as he didn't have one. I sent for one for him a while back for when he pops to the express. Might drop them an email and ask for a replacement card for that number...
I put all the Xmas presents on it thinking it would work out nicely for the next boost...0 -
Thanks Lawrie. Just been to two Tescos and got 5 carrier bags full of different 1p chocs :T  :j0
