Thanks again everyone who wished me well for my interview
Can I ask a question please? I’m unsure about how to reply when they ask why I want to leave my current job. I spoke about this with OH and he said to talk about wanting new challenges, however the more I think about this, the more I think it’s the wrong thing to say :undecided I don’t want challenges, so if I say I want them and there aren't any then they may not give me the job for that reason, and if there are no challenges it will be perfect for me.
In my current job I feel like my boss doesn’t want me there. She wants to do all the work herself and almost every day there’s not enough work for me but if I look at my phone she gets annoyed so I try to stretch out work and sometimes look at junk emails because I’m so bored. I think it was her husband’s idea to take on another person because he doesn't like her spending so much time at work, however she doesn't want this. There’s loads of other stuff I could do that she moans she still has to do, such as bank reconcilations, which I’ve done before in other jobs but she won’t let me touch them
So my question is is it ok to say some of the above if asked why I want to leave? Obviously not go into all the detail but can I say I want to feel as if I’m needed and that I have a job to do and in my current job I don’t feel as though there is a job there for me and that there’s not enough work to keep me busy. I’ve tried creating spreadsheets but been told not to do that. Much of the time I’m bored. Is it ok to say this at my interview? TIA0 -

Don't say that your boss does all the work!
Say you don't feel appreciated and that your existing skills are not being put to use. You want to move somewhere that you can not only use these skills but perhaps even learn new onesApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -

I would say that's perfectly acceptable. Then they know they will be getting their money's worth and that you have a good work ethic.“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.” ~ Ferris Bueller0 -
Always a tricky one but I'd suggest saying something along the lines of "that you made significant process changes/improvements/enhancements" in your current role to the extent that the role you joined to undertake has largely been systemised and therefore that you feel now is the right time to move on and deliver in a new role.
That keeps a positive focus; you've delivered and know when the time is to move on.
Hope that helps :-)Evangeline1971 wrote: »Thanks again everyone who wished me well for my interview

Don't say ANYTHING that could be construed as negative towards your current employer.
Last week I had an interview after I'd left my job. I was asked a similar question so my answer was that I didn't feel as though I could gain any more experience in my old job so took the opportunity to try and expand on the experience I already had
Do not say today that much of the time you are bored. You want to give them the right impression, and sounding even remotely negative won't do that
