I'm not sure why its condescending to give free biscuits to a foodbank either? I have specifically gone and got them BECAUSE they're free, and because I thought they would be useful and appreciated by the foodbank. I don't want the biscuits myself - only because I'm overweight already and can demolish a packet of biscuits in seconds (and in fact did do that to a couple of packets last week!), but to me it seemed like an obvious thing to do to go and get some to donate.
I wasn't particularly referring to the biscuits when I said that. I was more referring to the fillers that people buy. It's just not something I understand to buy any food that you won't use yourself. It's not something I do myself. I'm not saying it's wrong for anyone else to do it either......just that it's something I've never understood.
Yes I have been very guilty of buying other things I won't usebut I think my tot up of just how guilty at the end of last year gave me the kick up the rear I needed
But on the subject if biscuits.....take this area for example. The council has had to put a scheme in place to provide breakfasts for all primary school age children because so many children are going to school hungry without a breakfast inside them in the morning. All the free biscuits in the world won't solve that problem. People give things that they get for cheap or free and I understand that. But if it really is about helping people who have less then why not splash out on a couple of boxes of cereal? Yes it's nice for people to have things that they can't normally afford and that are considered a treat.
But plenty of people are profiting from the way we shop and spending very little feeding their own families. If they really want to help food banks.....why not use a little of the profit they are making buying things that are really needed? So that councils like ours aren't having to spend money feeding kids who could in all honesty get what they need at home.
I know it's not a popular view and that's fine. I don't expect everyone to agree and don't mind anyone who doesn't. I'm just as interested in everyone's views whether I agree or not0 -

I would describe a savvy-sized post as one larger than 'the norm', size at the poster's discretion... sorry, not very useful
Hope I can make it better by saying we all very much appreciate your posts, your patience is legendary and attention to detail commendable so tankuMay: Make £5 a day £115.38 / £155

I assume your shop (is that yours or a womble?) was a deliberately 'cheaper in A' shop, as M much more expensive on a few items (and 'cheap' milk too). Don't forget (you probably did:D) that we are on last Wednesday for M so that current msm prices won't apply (unless there has been no change). Young's Lighted Coated Pollock Fillets - note last chance!! Now gone up in M - I believe to £3.99. Or maybe OOS who can tell?!? Could be better waiting for M though if M sticks a points offer on them:rotfl: . Or was that shop an attempt vs T? I see I got you buying the SP Wheat Bisks:D:(:rotfl:.
It was a 'I'm expecting the wipes to lose everywhere' shop so just didn't have time to plan properly, only two biscs (biscuits not boxes) left in the cupboard.
Actually, I should call this a married shop
The milk, fish and although they didn't appear: £1 ciabatta garlic slices  were all needed right now according to DW
You should have seen the stuff I managed to keep out of the basket :A#CHEEKY :cool:0
