    Afternoon All

Must be very cold out there with the wind, my heating set to 5 degrees keeps turning itself on.

Not getting any biscuits as am too fat as it is, but thanks to everyone that has contributed, so those who want them have been able to "buy"
I would like a nice healthy glitch next please.

Had an appointment with Spinal Surgeon yesterday, waited three and a half hours to be seen, when called it was a Physiotherapist because Surgeon had to leave to catch a plane

I went to Morries in M*rg*te at 12.00 today and the Fox's biscuits had been decimated! The only ones left were the Rich Tea creams so I had to content myself with 10 packs of those. Found the 20p bruschetta jars (thanks Cheerleader!) so had 3 of those as well and the easy chilli and easy garlic.

Plenty in my stores, didn't look short on them at all. Told you, it's only us, a very tiny minority, far less than 1% of their customers, that are doing these shops.:)

I swapped 2 biccys for mint because I saw it on a list.Must have been wrong one.Its crunch creams Mint choc.flavour.Its a Ltd Edition and not on msm.Its not on Morries either.Strange one that, can't find it anywhwere.

I wouldn't even bother with msm, as M don't use that for their price comps. Nor would I bother with M's website either, as it's completely irrelevant to the fact of whether they have them in their stores and the products instore might be on points offer - or not.

That said, I've absolutely no clue as to what works or does not, what is a wrong one or what is not, and not able to do a fully successful shop myself, so what do I know?, and that's how it is!:)

    Hi guys,

I am just wondering if I'm getting the hang of this or not :D
So, assuming I work my shop so the whole thing is not 10% cheaper than Morrisons, it will calculate the amount I get back for items that are included in the APG?

From the list on the first page, for example,
Fairy Non Biological Laundry Liquid - 40 Washes (2L)£6.00 £6.00

Does this mean I would get £5.40 back for that item?

And is the big list on the first page of items that are always in the APG?

Sorry for being such a newbie :o

It's 60p (to get you to 10% cheaper than £6). Wish it was £5.40 refund, but sadly not! Instead it's a 60p refund from A's price of £6 to be 10% cheaper than M, assuming that nothing else in your shopping returns M at much more expensive than A (i.e. A being in excess of 10% cheaper than M on it) and offsets (subtracts from the APG voucher value). If the Fairy in A was £5.80 and M £6.00, it would be 40p. If A was £7 and M returned as £6, it would be £1.60. HTH, and no need to apologise for being a newbie!:)

EDIT: Sorry, didn't read your whole post at first:o - regarding whether the items on my list are always in the APG, the answer is no: they drop on and drop off all the time and, once you have your basket done, perhaps with the help of my list, you need to check that every item in it is on mysupermarket.co.uk (msm) showing in stock for A - unfortunately I can't check that or keep up with it as to what goes on or comes off the website and what goes in or out of stock (OOS). It's possibly the odd item a day that may disappear or return. Also you need to have at least eight unique grocery items that are on msm for a comparison to be made. Preferable to exceed that by two or three in case one doesn't appear (although I never follow this rule, I ought to:o). If an item goes OOS for A, it's possible it won't appear on the APG, won't therefore count towards the minimum 8 different items required, and won't give any comparison or refund for itself (you only get refunds in respect of each individual item that compares as long as every item that compares isn't 10% cheaper than the specific competitor). If a non-appearing item is part of a mix and match, it could then make the other item compare from full price, so in turn could, in some circumstances, give a favourable glitch. However, you want your items to appear. If you find one that doesn't, and if it's on mbuy in A, then let us know as it could be a 'trigger' item for the future:D.

Generally though, mbuys in A don't I feel amount to any savings - as any saving made is generally subtracted from the A price in the comparison, making them cheaper, and the 10% off the competitor's simply reaching the same result. The exception is if you get mbuys that glitch, generally because of a very recent price change, that return A full price on then individual items and then compare. Otherwise, if something is on offer at another store that is cheaper in price than the mbuy pricing of A, it's probably best just to get one rather than hit the mbuy number. E.g. £2.50 or any 2 for £3 at A, £1 each offer elsewhere. Buy one - £2.50 in A, £1 elsewhere - £1.60 APG. Buy two - 2 for £3 A (i.e. £1.50 each on mbuy), £1x2 elsewhere (you bought two instead of just the one) - £1.20 APG. You still get 90p each (10% cheaper than competitor's offer price), just that if you bought two, you bought one more than was necessary.

It depends what you want to achieve. If you need two, or however many you need, buy two (or however many). If your goal is to get as much back as possible on each shop to use against a further shop, then probably best to miss mbuys and get the full refund to 10% cheaper than single price at the rival (being better than the mbuy price perhaps). Could then reuse the same item on the next shop (and miss the mbuy again, thus, maybe, depending on the pricing of A and the competitor, more APG - even if same net cost). Item would then count to the 8 on the next occasion too, rather than buying 2 for £3 now and thus not needing the item at all on the next occasion. Depends if you are switching your competitor next time too I suppose.

Mbuy pricing might give you 'more' APG - but only because of the difference - on the above example, final outcome is still a cost of, in effect, twice 10% cheaper than competitor e.g. £1.80, if you get two, instead of 90p net result if you get just the one. If it was £2 and 2 for £3 A but £1 each elsewhere, then 2 would be £1.20 APG but 1 would be £1.10 (difference from £2 to the 90p (10% cheaper than £1)). However, on £2 & any 2 for £3 at A, if you get two, and it's not a glitch, it's a price comparison of £1.50 on each of the two vs £1.00 on each elsewhere. So 50p difference plus 10p (10%) on each. 60p difference each = £1.20 total.

    Buy one
    £2.00 vs £1.00

    Buy two
    £1.50 vs £1.00
    £1.50 vs £1.00

You can see that each individual item gives less APG when using the mbuy, as the mbuy 'saving' is deducted from A's price - even though, on this specific example, there is a higher APG (£1.10 on one compared with £1.20 on two) - but then of course you paid £3 total in the first place, rather than just getting one and paying £2 in total on that item, so £2 - £1.10 = 90p whilst £3 - £1.20 = £1.80!

Of course, if the mbuy 'glitches', then it's different!

Bear in mind the M comp. is risky, unless very recently confirmed, as they collect prices instore - they use 6 stores (3 I think specific for England, 2 for Scotland and 1 in Wales (maybe Wrexham:D:laugh: (in-joke))) - how can you have three close brackets Savvy? - and they don't use the same store(s) as me. Could be best (or not) to push those prices down to £1.50 each on different items in a mix and match rather than risk a full £2 vs M - depending on whether different flavours are available at/what price at/whether they compare to M. We are due another price collection update soon - prices have been taken by them today and expecting update tomorrow approximately mid-morning or if not then sometime on Friday. There could be some changes. More soon...
