I am registered with Frontline Focus and do a regular assignment for them once a month. I am always paid the following month without fail, and have never had any problems with them. The assignment I do is at a food outlet I really like and isn't difficult to get to (and I have no travel costs), and I get refunded for my purchase plus a small fee for doing a 5-minute survey. I really enjoy working for them and would really recommend them, they are very professional (which can't be said for some other MS companies I have signed up with in the past).

to be honest that sounds like an advert for them

Ive found them extremely unprofessional, liars and a company that doesnt pay its debts - and more than just to me.

hope that puts a balance on things for others reading....

They only seem to have donut jobs now, however I never had a problem doing the pizzas, a decent fee and never any queries, plus very generous bonuses.
  • Yes, the post about FF sounded like an ad.

In response to the poster pondering about mystery shopping, yes, the jobs are pretty much below NMW most of the time.

However, I quite like scoring a (for example) free Nike t-shirt that I otherwise couldn't have brought myself to buy for the sake of a survey.

You also get some audit or MS jobs that you can do a circuit of 15-20 tenner jobs in a day so the pay works out ok. Not every day though.

Even video isn't always the grail/living it's made out to be. Some jobs are quick so the pay is ok. Others you're expected to do a ton of research, make a call, turn up and be convincing. Once you've done it the fee doesn't feel as good as it did at the start.

Thing is hassle/lucrativity is all in the eye of the beholder. What are you looking for? How much do you value free stuff vs filling forms? Are you purely after a living? What could you make in a different job?

More trouble than they are worth particularly for standard payment. Absolute palaver of a job.

Agree. Did one one of the new DIY jobs for what seemed a decent premium but given how long it took in store and reporting it ended up being only just worthwhile.

How straightforward / complicated are the opticians' jobs on MF?

Did one last year as I was overdue an eye test and it was the optician I normally use anyway which worked well. Afterwards thought I wouldn't bother picking them up for the standard fee if I wasn't going anyway.

Agreed, not hard at all, it's just the time the visit takes really. Alright if you're off anyway, wouldn't bother otherwise unless there was an epic premium attached.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

For those down South the real benefit of the MF glasses visit is a paid for eye test, quite a saving if you were going anyway, up here we get them free so not worth the bother to be honest.

Well I think this is part of the problem. Whilst there are plenty of people out there who "treat MS as a hobby" and are happy with a free meal out, it will never pay a living wage.

Snakefollower, you make it sound so negative, my experience is very different. I count it as a hobby. I do mainly restaurants, clothes shops or other high street shops. I figure I've got to eat so why not eat out for free. Last week I ate out 5 days in a row for free. Okay I had to complete the report, but if I had cooked at home I would have had to have spent time cooking and washing up anyway.

In the clothes shop I consider it a big discount on the ticket price and when I can buy household stuff like toiletries that I would have to buy anyway I consider the money I saved as a bonus to buy myself a treat else where.

I guess it depends if you're trying to earn a living with it or just score some handpicked freebies.

Maybe we shop for different companies, but one company I work for offers a triple figure pay for about two hours work. That's defo an hourly rate way above minimum wage! Admittedly you can't do jobs like that every week, but when you do it's easy and and I find it enjoyable.
