So as Gyp's big '3' becomes a big '1' is anyone else noticing that companies are disappearing from MSC's and not turning up elsewhere?

I was wondering where the pharmacy client and clothes retailer with facial name from GrassRoots had gone.
  • When do Gyp pay guys? I did a few jobs for them in January and still waiting.
  • GR is really quiet. I did a load of jobs for them earlier in the month and then nothing. MF is consistent at least but I can't always check the website and probably miss things.

I have joined another couple but cannot be bothered as the websites are difficult to navigate. In one my home area is miles away from where I live yet I can't seem to alter it.

Have you tried gfk? Their jobs are usually fairly local and reporting system good.
  • I've also started a spreadsheet for my expenses etc which is an effort but feel better now it is done.

It is supposed to be the 26th of the following month, so they should have paid a couple of days ago, but it is not unusual for them to be a few days late.

At some point they've reworded their payment FAQs (probably after the last time there was a run of late payments when we were all expecting them on 26th) and it now says ...
Payments for all countries are made on a monthly basis after the work has been performed. Jobs completed between the 1st and 31st of a given month will be paid at the end of the next month or first week of the following month. (Eg: An assignment completed between the 1st and 31st March will be paid on the last week of April or first week of May)
... so according to that it could be any time in the next week.

Saying that, recently the payments have been more or less around 26th of the month, so I hope this is not another episode where the payments go all haywire again - fingers crossed it's just some kind of 'short month' thing ;)

I'm waiting on REACT and Mystery Outsource to pay for January's work! Mystery Outsource have now sent 3 emails asking for the same payment information- it's obv just an excuse. I'm starting to think most MSCs are going down the pan. Certainly the high street is all across the South West- I've never seen so many empty shops. I think that rough waters are ahead.

REACT money is showing as in and will clear on Monday, no idea what MO are up to but they were late last month. February seems to take a few companies by surprise with the short month...

Companies come and go, its happened all the time I've been doing this. Many will be back when they figure out that what we do really makes a difference, just look at the woes on TNS's supermarket client. We are seen as an expense to be cut by some myopic CEO's, their loss.

Trust me, when it gets to paying your tax at the end of the year you can sit back with a smug grin while less organised people panic.
  • I'm hoping I won't need to pay any but you are right. :)

That is the wrong attitude, I hope I have to pay loads of tax at the end of the year, the more I have to pay them means the more I have earned ;-)
