You definitely need to keep a record of what visits you do, for whom and what the fee was. I have only had one example where having applied for a visit the fee was then lowered and that was with Retail Active and a stationery store. They may have made an error on the listing but instead of honouring the fee that reduced it without so much as a word of explanation. I would fight the non payment decision. It was not your fault there was no one else in the store. What MSC is it?0

I'd like to discuss a range of topics, from which assignments to avoid ( I wish I had not accepted this visit..) to the tips on successful mystery shoppping ( which voice recording stick do you use and where would you put it?) and getting paid (did they ever pay you less than promised?). This thread seems only to discuss the implications of MS for the taxman.
I have done 18 visits so far with 5 MS companies, including 2 audio visits, 3 shop audits, a few meals out, and the remainder were covert mystery shop visits with an enquiry only or a cancellation later. Out of these, one was not paid and another one was not fully paid.
I am open to discussion via private messaging without mentioning any client names or fees, if thats the reason most folk dont want to share their experieces here.
This site used to be more active - however alot of peeps have moved over to a facebook site, where there is somehwat more discussion on jobs etc. Only rules are we don't discuss fees or reveal who clients are. If you want the link, send me a PM0 -
Anyway, there is only a certain amount one can say about MSing.
Given what it pays it is also wise to limit the non-chargeable time as it lowers your average pay per hour still further!0 -
I've had hugely positive mystery shopping experiences with all but one company going by the initials "AA". I won't be doing shops for them again, without much regret seeing as they pay about half what everybody else does!0

There should be a warning on the 1st page for everyone to avoid those scumbags!Minimalist

HI,
I am giving up mystery shipping to try my luck in pastures new.
I know I am not allowed to sell stuff on here, but I should like to give away some Mystery Shopping-related items. I hope that's okay?
I have sold my Lawmate PV500 Evo2s and cameras. However, I have TWO of the Lawmate Extended Batteries (BA-4400) which are surplus to requirement. They cost £54 each when I bought them!
Both are less than a year old and are good for 6-8 hours recording. The little locking button is broken on one of them but Gorilla Tape works well!
I don't want anything for them, and I will ship them to mainland UK free of charge. I would however, ask you make a nominal donation to my Favourite charity.
Please PM Me for details.
Regards

That's extremely nice of you to do that. I don't have a camera, so they are no use to me.
I don't know how you sold the cameras, but a previous mystery shopper listed theirs on Ebay and put a link on here. I bid but didn't get them. I'm sure others could be interested as well, so for anyone else moving on we might appreciate a heads up!0 -

I felt it was too risky selling the equipment on Ebay. I didn't want the risk of someone saying it was faulty in a few months time - then demanding a refund or doing a charge-back.
I simply took them to my local branch of Cash Converters and they gave me a decent price in cash. Job Sorted with no comeback.0
