School uniform - how many shirts/trousers etc?

Hi - I'm thinking ahead to my LO starting Reception in September (and how he'll need fewer clothes as he'll be wearing uniform!). But I have no idea how many pairs of trousers, shirts, jumpers, he will need for the week.
Currently he has (at least) a complete change of clothes every day, I'm thinking a clean shirt every day, but what about trousers? And jumpers?
Any advice would be great!
TIA

Clean shirt everyday, couple of pairs of jumpers and trousers always worked for me0

With shirts I always worked with one on , one off & one in the wash , jumpers a couple used to do - trousers a couple was ok for the oldest but the younger one was a nightmare for holes in the knees of school trousers !0

We started on 3 must-wash things (shirts), 2 trous & 2 tops as the lad was given to growing. Socks & pants were bought by the multipack.
By the time we had 3 in school, we gave that up & went for 5 of everything just so a bout of washing & drying & ironing had uniform sorted for all 3 for the whole week. They carried right on growing, so the eldest kept getting new kit & the younger ones the hand-me-downs - where possible! (I'd buy socks & pants by the kilo from the market.)
We're very strict on "lost" items & are known for digging through the lost property box to find our (name-taped) kit! Anything not too shamefully abused was un-taped & donated for the school to re-route as needed.
The weekend before BackToSchool be it year start or after half term, we check for fit & resupply if we have to.0 -

If he currently has at least one complete change of clothes now, I doubt this will change much by the time he starts school. In which case the answer really becomes how often you want/can do laundry.
There are no excuses for arriving at school regularly in dirty school uniform in my opinion (regular breakfast & toothpaste spills would indicate a change of morning routine or wearing an apron to me), so since he'll need a clean set every day, you'll be looking for between 3 & 5 jumpers and trousers/shorts I would conclude.
If you'd prefer to washing all school uniform every Friday night/Sat, then 5 sets would be ideal, if you're happy to stick things in throughout the week, 3 should be fine.
Easier though more costly in some ways with girls. They can be cleaner, plus quite often have a pinafore, trousers and skirt, plus cardigan as well as jumper options. One of mine could wear the same skirt and jumper for weeks, the other had a daily change. :rotfl:0 -
My two girls have about 5 polo shirts each, two skirts, two dresses and a pair of trousers each.
Always seem to wear the skirts though as they don't like the dresses or trousers. I find this is plenty. Two pairs of tights each as well.
Re the cardigan. They have one with the school logo which generally lasts them all week, but I do have plain green ones from Mr T if need be.
Of course, some of the above is irrelevant if you have boys! Plus my girls (6 and 4) don't seem to get that messy.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

5 shirts, 2 jumpers, 2 trousers.
You'll probably find the jumpers will get whipped off as soon as he gets into school so the shirts will bear the brunt of the grime, the trousers will dry overnight if you pop them on a rad if he gets those dirty.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
For Me
5 Shirts
4 Jumpers
5 Trousers
If the shirts are white then I want a pile for a whites wash.
Also Jumpers get left behind easily,0 -
For us it depends on the child and time.
We work pretty much full time so rarely wash in the week. DS, who is 6, has at least 5 pairs of trousers and shirts for each day of the week. He has around 10 (cheap) jumpers - he needs a clean one every day and he goes through phases where he 'loses' them for weeks on end. They usually find their way home but we have extra just in case.
My 9 year old DD needs much less - she tends to wear a couple of skirts and cardigans each week and may change her blouse a little more often. But she is much less likely than my son to attempt a backflip combined with a ninja move whilst on the muddiest area of the school grounds!0 -
I think from memory i had 2 pairs of trousers, a skirt, 2 jumpers, a cardigan and about 3/4 shirts.
That seemed to be enough and never ran out or anything.

DD is 4 and at full time school nursery. I bought uniform over the summer but have had to buy more.
She currently has:
2 pinafores, worn for 2 days each
4 plain polo shirts to wear under the pinafores
3 cardigans - 1 really wasn't enough
2 skirts - worn whenever there isn't a pinafore available
5 logo'd polo shirts - for wearing with the skirts
6 pairs of tights
5 pairs ankle socks
This means I don't usually have to do a mid-week wash just for uniform.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0
