Top of kitchen cupboards...I put newspapers and/or magazine pages to cover the whole lot, folding them obviously, so that they are not seen. I've got a sort of plinth (if that's the right word), at the top of mine, so that helps in that I can cover the whole lot without it being seen. Suppose you could use anything really, wallpaper, cling film, whatever you have handy.
Easy to replace, saves a load of elbow grease, and dizzy attacks at high altitude!
That's interesting; I deliberately avoided having a plinth so that I can use one of those picker-upper gadgets (iykwim) to fish stuff down from the top when I need it, without having to always use the step stool.:o For the same reason, I don't put paper up there, as I'd pull it down along with the item I was trying to get down.:o
As with all things, it's horses for courses!;)

    Clean your fridge / freezer?

Fridge is done weekly, usually with a spray wipe and some paper kitchen towel (hence the reason I bought the cheaper stuff today as we get through a bit of it). I do a really darn good clean, the whole lot out and replace the kitchen roll in the milk shelf area maybe once every six weeks or so. I am not exact on it but it's thereabouts! The chest freezer is once every three months (I mark it on the calendar) then I make a list of what we have, need to get and keep a kind of total of the stuff in there.

Clean your kitchen cupboards out and wipe inside, doors etc?

Clean the cupboards out every three months, go through the lot checking the dates etc and wiping it all through. I clean the outside of the doors every week.

    Clean your oven?

It's an Aga so it goes off around about May time and I get them to come in and service it in about June time, they give it a good clean as well after I have given it a going over. The under the counter standard oven goes on in the summer when the Aga is switched off so I clean it every month or so, but when we have a roast I make sure it is cleaned when it is still warm so it is easier to deal with.

Clean the inside of your windows and the window frames?

Window cleaner comes once a month, so either just before he comes or just after.

Dust the top of door frames and light fittings?

Tops of door frames may be once a month but I am not exact on it. Glass light fittings I take down every six months and wash them through, I rinse them in a vinegar solution to make them shine and it keeps the occasional fly off them as well. When the lights go back up I give the rest of the light unit a good going over with a damp chamois cloth. I also mark this on the calendar to remind me as well.

The tops of the kitchen cupboards once a month and I use a solution of hot water and washing soda crystals and it brings them up beautifully!

Forgot to add that I have a big Welsh dresser in my kitchen and that gets cleaned every month. Then every three months, everything comes off it, washed, dried and put back. Takes me about an hour or so, because I have a photograph of the dresser and how I have got it looking the way I like it, so I just follow the picture and it all goes back easy. I have to mark this on the calendar as well!

I have the oven professionally cleaned every year, it comes up like new. Between cleans it is wiped down and I use the oven liner from Lakleland on the bottom. That can go in the dishwasher if needed.

Cupboards are done inside about twice a year, outside every week or so, Fridge wiped down every week before the big shop is delivered and given a good clean twice a year or so.

Windows, as and when using the window vac. Probably monthly.

To all the questions my answer is the same: only when it looks bad. I like to be able to see the difference. The same goes for cleaning my car.

I clean my fridge/freezer about once a year or more if it needs it.
I use Mr Muscle on the inside and outside of my cupboard doors every week but only clean the shelves as and when they need it.
I clean my oven every week or more if it needs it. I have a pyro programme which I use after a lot of cooking ie Xmas.
I clean the insides of my windows every 6 weeks after the window cleaner has done the outsides. I have a window vac and it is FAB.
I dust the tops of door frames and light fittings weekly with a long duster on a stick.
I use empty ice cream tubs to stand all my packet mixes up in, I have some containers for pasta. I use empty margarine/butter tubs for stuff like food flavourings/colourings. I use a peg on my bags of open flour to keep them fresh.
My kitchen is fully tiled so I use my e-cloth to do the walls every week as well.
Oh and the cooker hood with the e-cloth and annually with Fairy Power Spray - this stuff is seriously good. The filters go in the dishwasher.
I use a stainless steel scourers on my gas hob bits that actually have the gas coming out of them and put the grills in the dishwasher.
It takes me about an hour and 3/4 to do my kitchen every week. I hate doing it but love the finished product:)
    I think I'm a little ocd...

Fridge- inside, once a week. Outside, every couple of days

    Freezers- probably once a year

    Outer cupboard doors- weekly

Windows and frames- I only really bother with the kitchen window once or twice a week, depending on how many times my cat has been in and out with wet feet

Oven- top cleaned after every use. Oven pride once a year.

Inside of cupboards- usually every 6 months or so but this is overdue. Same with top of cupboards. I usually have to stand on the work tops to do them with my head at a funny angle because I'm too tall for the space between worktop and ceiling

Pulling fridge and freezer out for cleaning behind- once a month

Floors mopped weekly, with an additional steam clean monthly

Top of door frames and light fittings- whenever I remember. Same with skirting boards

    Light switches- weekly

Work tops- twice daily. Despite my best efforts, my cat likes to sleep on them so I cannot abide the thought of not cleaning them before and after use   even if I can prove she's not been anywhere near them, daily proper clean and a wipe over after every use

  • Like most people posting on this thread, I'm a contradictory mixture of lazy and OCD when it comes to cleaning. I tend to muddle through most of the time and then have a "Blitz This House" session when things just get too bad. Like when the kitchen floor is so sticky that it's difficult to get from one side of the room to the other... Or when I've spent time reading OS threads and am inspired! Or when Mum or Mum-in-Law is coming to stay.
Like Rainy-Days, I have to write stuff on the calendar in order to stand a chance of remembering to do it, but even then it's quite easy to ignore.
Have just started a new job, so that's my excuse for having done precisely NONE of the cleaning mentioned in the original post. However, my OH, my kids and I have obviously built up enough antibodies to survive quite happily, so I'm not going to give myself a hard time. There is, as many have pointed out, more to life.

Wipe the door fronts down every week, not all in one go! I wipe the counter tops over with bleach, once a week, when waiting for the kettle to boil. The cloths get boiled every other day. For the rest, once a month I work on the kitchen for a week, doing a "chore" every day i.e fridge, one drawer, one cupboard. Over a year it all gets done. My kitchen is never perfect, but it's good enough. :j
