removal of for sale sign

Our offer was accepted last Tuesday morning with memorandum of sale issued the same day and solicitors instructed.

My husband drove past the property today and it is still displaying a 'for sale' sign but is showing as SSTC on the agents site and rightmove. Is there an expectation on how long it should be before they take it down? Would it be unreasonable to ask them to remove it?

They have stated that they would discontinue actively marketing the property......

they will not move the sign until you exchange so stop fretting - u could pull out anytime, however they will not be pushing it to new buyers

They often outsource that job to another firm. It's a low priority for the EAs to get round to it and/or the company who go round and change them might have it on a weekly round.

Don't worry about it... it happens all the time.

Thanks for the responses, the previous property we offered never actually had any signs up so I had nothing to gauge by.

Sold sign stayed there for 2 after I bought my house, took it down myself and ended up taking it to the tip 4 months later when nobody came to claim it !

Same thing happened with our last-but-one house......otoh, with the house we just bought, the board was already gone on completion day - guess they have a greater need for them round here ;):o

You will probably see it changed to a sold sign soon. As others have said, don't worry about it. The guy who does them in our area comes on a Tuesday and does the boards for all of the agents.
    Good luck with your move!

We accepted an offer on our house the week before Xmas, and we still have a for sale board up. I suspect it won't change til we exchange.

I wouldn't fret, there are lots of other things to worry about at this time.

I bought my house in May 2008, and the sign only came down in November 2014,and then only because I saw someone from the estate agents parked across the road and asked them to sort it out!

I had no idea that they were even made to last 6+ years!
