At Tesco - either someone hasn't got the memo...

  • I don't understand your point.

And coming back with a personal insult to a constructive post just shows what kind of person you are.

I always thought that was the case, but recently at tescos it has not been.
Don't know what it is like in the main but certainly in things i have been buying recently cheaper to buy them individually then as a bulk pack.

carton juices £3.50/4 or individually 2 for £1.50
tins of soup 50p/each or 4 for £2.50
tins of beans 50p/each or 4 for £2.50

I must check more often rather than just using favourites for my shop

Some people will automatically buy the larger pack assuming it's better value - it often isn't. Xxx

Don't think the OP got the memo either.

The one about Tesco being more expensive than other supermarkets.

And what has the price premium got to do with food waste? (Other than the possibility that the food won't sell and thus go to waste; although they'll reduce the price to sell as it approaches the appropriate sell by/best before date to minimise that risk).
I don't think it is about food not being sold.
I think it is about food being bought and not used.

I think the OP is saying that if you want 30 garlic bulbs, then buying 45 will be the same price as buying 30. So people will buy 45. Then waste 15 of them.

Though the comment about the onions seems to go against this.
  • Silly question maybe but who buys 30plus garlic bulbs? 3 lasts us weeks.

Eh? Paying 25p per bulb instead of 8p per bulb. In what incongruent universe is that a solution?

Paying more than 300% extra is better than paying 50% extra? Eh?

No, the 5 kg bags of onions were also charged at a premium if you only bought one bag. Tesco expect British householders to buy 15 kg of onions at a time.

There was nothing constructive about the trolling shill's reply.

If something annoys someone, that person should avoid that thing.

In this case, something is Tesco and someone is You. I'd find that advice constructive.

Because to get the bulbs for 8p you need to buy 50 which costs £4. Instead of the one bulb for 25p.

Although i was extravagant last time and bought 2 bulbs. I split the cloves on the spare one and planted them in a small planter in the garden and got 9 free bulbs approx 9 months later.

I no longer buy garlic bulbs. 25p well spent.

Some of them do, although tbh the assumption stretches the definition of "British" somewhat...
