Hi SavingRaven, you are doing so well on the OPs. I am with you on the lack of pension front have decided to crack away at mortgage this year, then next year focus on pension provision. If only as I like to have targets achieved and in mid 40's the general advice seemed to be focus on the mortgage first.Original MF date: Feb 33 Target : MF date: Dec 20 Cleared mortgage August 2015

Wow SR amazing work 9k in one hit i love it hehe great job :]
I know what you mean i have my tax money for next jan saved up and id love to smash the mortgage with it haha but i cant booooooooo lol
With the amount you earn is an emergency fund really isnt that important.
For example my EF would cover me for 2 years worth of bills nearly for you i guess youd need a massive EF to cover your bills for a year in comparison
Either way your doing a great job well done :]Mortgage--- [STRIKE]£67700 March 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£65221 April 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£64983 July 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£64780 sept 15[/STRIKE] Remortgage [STRIKE]£67295 oct 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£66599 Nov 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£65878.73 Dec 15[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £64834 1st Jan 16[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Feb 16 £64,511.89[/STRIKE][STRIKE] March 16 £64,056.40[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]April 16 £62550[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]May 16 £62,396.20[/STRIKE] Feb 17 £60.800

Hi SR,
What a great idea - you might as well use that £9k wisely. Our mortgage doesn't seem to work like that so our savings have to stay were they are with their measly interest rates. For now. That's something for us to think about as an optional extra feature when we remortgage though.SavingRaven wrote: »Just have to remember that we still owe my sister that money and that it's not actually 'mine' to throw at the mortgage

Isn't that why you've got this diary. your signature is a fab reminderSavingRaven wrote: »Hopefully she'll win the lottery and won't want it back!!

or even better - you'll win!!
Hope you're having an MSE month. Isnt it invoice day for you around this time of the month? No doubt you'll be here soon with your latest update
Have a good 'un

And there I was thinking that getting people in would make life easier!
Hope you're well

We have the same thing. OH needs superfast broadband to be able to work from home. We don't really want a landline etc, but you have to pay for it all within the package

That sounds good, but make sure you find a balance. It's great to overpay the mortgage, but it needs to be sustainable.
I'm looking forward to next summer when DD1 goes to school, our childcare costs plummet... and I can afford to pay a cleaner!!

Ugh, I hardly like to think about it! £50 per day per child (averaged - DD2 is a little more because she's a baby, DD1 is a little less). They're in three days a week which is £1045/mth after a 10% discount for second child and my oldest's free 15 hours per week from the government.
Once childcare vouchers are taken out too it's approx £550/mth with £486 coming out of our paycheques, so same total but less tax paid.
Very complicated!
...and this is a very reasonably priced nursery. The one I used in London before I moved was £75 per child per day.Mortgage when started: £330,995
