    I think I will be excited by it once I start making overpayments. At the moment I'm still juggling everything around and trying to get the house sorted, so it's all still a bit daunting...

    Getting in the decorator is a smart move and a much better use of your money when it comes to keeping stress levels down. Don't begrudge yourself a bit of spending here and there. We'll never make mortgage freedom if we keep denying ourselves the important things.

  • Right, so I did it. After a couple of weeks of putting it off I have now added up my invoices and my credit card debt.

    Well done SR, the anticipation of doing the sums is terrible some months and exciting other months. We're a strange lot, aren't we? Looks like you had a spending month but the CC is being paid straight off, no interest, so you've broken no MSE golden rules.

    You're still here on the MFW boards planning the road to mortgage freedom and sister-debt freedom.

    Wow, what a difference a week makes, you are flying!!

    Glad to see you're feeling much more optimistic and look forward to hearing you sigh with relief once the renovations have finished (and been paid for!)

    Oh, and a £100k target for 2018 - that's an impressive challenge to give yourself and at the rate you're going sounds do able.
    We could (possibly, with some serious OPing) make a £150k target for then. I don't feel mentally ready to make that commitment as there's soooo many factors which could sway us off achieving that total. Nevertheless, an attempt to keep up with you will definitely do lots for my motivation and hopefully help us to make that target :D

    I wonder do people feel guilty when they scale back and stop working so much? I'm so used to being busy at work that I feel guilty if I have an afternoon off!!

    I honestly think that it's the curse of the self-employed - always think we could be working more and have a really tough time saying no to any work that comes our way. There is always that fear that one day the work may just stop coming :(

    Have just updated my sig to reflect not what I'm OPing but the total of the mortgage. Just phoned my lender and we're down to £263,394 so well on the way to reducing the mortgage to £250,000 by the end of the year. Will be good to get through that milestone as we'll officially own two-thirds of our house!

    Just re-reading this thread - does that mean that your house price has gone up by £350,000 since 2013? :think:
