Losing money due to birthday party no-shows

Just to add my view...
I would be annoyed the kid did not show and think the invoice was right. I have had a parent with two children not show once and she was just I forgot. When someone recently did the same to her she was fuming and mouthing off to all about how inconsiderate people are!
I have been to some parties and my other kid has been asked if she would like to stay as x just hasn't shown up. In these cases I feel for the birthday kid especially if more than one CBA as at that age it can sometimes make the kid feel no one likes them.Don’t put it down - put it away!

I can't believe some are defending them! Obviously, birds of a feather...
Far from defending the parents of the child who didn't attend the party, I think that at worst, they've behaved in a socially unacceptable manner
. However, that doesn't mean that I agree with the host mother's course of action either, I think she's clearly barking mad quite frankly, particularly as SCC is a non starter for any legal action. I'm really not sure what she hoped to achieve.
I think most of us parents have been in this situation unfortunately, but you chalk it up to experience and make a mental note not to invite that child to any more parties you hold. You don't go stirring up trouble with people who you are going to be mixing with for the next 12-14 years.
Also, when my children have had a party where you pay per head I have a set budget. For instance, when DS had a laser party just before Christmas I could afford for ten children to come as that was the minimum the laserzone would take. Luckily 10 came, but if one hadn't turned up, annoying as that would be, I would not have gone over budget because the amount it would cost me for 10 children is what I'd set aside.
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
The parents who issued the invoice just wanted their 15 minutes of 'fame'.
Silly people.
And to put on a child's birthday party and expect parents of invited kids to contribute is greedy.
The parents of birthday boy should have had more sense than putting this 'invoice' into the other boy's schoolbag.
Tacky approach.
Shame on all 4 of them.
Shame on all 4 of them yes, but I do think that school was also in the wrong to put this invoice in the boy's schoolbag.0 -

Yep.
But maybe the school wasn't involved in putting the letter in the boy's bag.
Maybe the'invoice' Mum put it in the bag herself.0 -
How is this news - must have been a slow day in the world for such a childish argument between a bunch of stupid adults to become to widespread.Thinking critically since 1996....0

Just pathetic. And the parents also asking the school to act as secretary, hope they paid the school for the administration time.
The absent child's parents are rude, but they didn't sign a contact. It's all very weird. And a complete waste of time. She must have so much time on her hands.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -

They're both 4 and both loved it. I'd definitely consider this sort of party for her 5th birthday. Locally it's £120 for up to 12 people so much better value than the xmas one.
I'd rather she ate cat !!!! than take her to McDonalds.
Do you think the food at a ski slope is any better?? Seriously, party food is all bad unless you do it yourself.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
