Did that this year for DD's 4th. Didn't even go berserk on the cake bit and had 8 under 4s running riot around the house and garden afterwards, jumping off beds etc. Next year we're going out! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

me too, we only did a party at home once - never again :rotfl::rotfl:.
as to the subject of the OP - ridiculous overreaction by the party hosts. If they were happy to pay a total of however-many £15.95s in total, really they haven't lost any money at all, they still paid what they expected to pay, right?0 -

oh, wow, the Facebook exchange makes grim reading.

Did the boycotting parents both know know about the existing commitment for their son to visit their grandparents and simply allowed their son to choose which event to attend on the day? It's not clear to me if they both knew about this potential clash and thought it would be fine just to stand up one party without warning.
My parents would have probably insisted that I honour my commitments and not chop and change as a child 'No, you said to x that you were going to do x so you can't let them down now', though perhaps this is hard for a 5 year old to deal with.0 -

Even more complex than that. Reading around it it seems his older sister was supposed to be seeing "nan and grandad" (his? hers? both of theirs?) that day and they decided to ask Alex on the day what he wanted to do. Sounds like original plan was Lily to grandparents, Alex to party, and then they fubarred it and couldn't be bothered to admit it.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Ha ha, oh dear! I always has parties at home when I was as young as this boy. But we were very well behaved children
I must admit at secondary school, the best parties were the sleepovers (nightmare for parents) or bowling!0 -

If you can't go wild at a birthday party, what's the point?!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Can't say I ever thought the point was to go wild, we played games, ate etc.
Unless perhaps it was a disco! The Macarena is pretty wild.0
