Abbey National - late delivery of debit cards
Comments

I'm another person still waiting for my Abbey card to arrive.....this is getting ridiculous. I did receive a copy of their new terms & conditions in the post yesterday though!
BTW, as with nealallen, I can still access my account online using my card number.0 -
I could access my (current) account online without a new card, as my new card number is the same as the old. The only thing that changes is the expiry date etc.0

I went to my Abbey branch three weeks ago BEFORE THE FLOODS they told me they would send the cards out one week prior to the old one expiring due to fraud. Waited until a week prior to expiry still no card, went into the branch again, was told they had technical problems. 1st August still no card after wasting 12 minutes on the phone was told it was due to the floods and postmen strick and that it would arrive Thurs. Rung the lost card section (you get through quicker this way) I asked what was the reason for the cards not being delivered. I was informed it was due to transferring everything over to SANDADTAR and addresses were coming up UNCONFIRMED so they would not send them out. Man said card would be with me today Friday. No such luck, so went into branch again, and was told that its is the floods, nothing to do with Sandatar , so don't believe anything Abbey says. Someone else posted a message on another site and they did not get their card that expired the end of JUNE, NO FLOODS THEN. Something not quite right Abbey get your act together. Everyone should complain to them.0

Ouch ooh how awfully annoying and very frustrating for you.
Have you tried calling Abbey direct on their customer help line matey0 -
My debit card expired 31st July and I too have not received a new one. Everytime I phone up I am told that it is late due to the post and no help is offered. I am partially disabled so I am without anyway of getting money out. I cannot use my internet banking as my card has expired, nor can I order goods over the internet which is how I normally cope. They disgust me.0

You might be able to use your internet banking but most people cannot. I cannot use it at all now my card has expired. I can do nothing at all being disabled0

AARRGGGHHHHH still no card...
Does anyone at Abbey know what they are doing, or even give a DAM???
Called them the other day and they said should be with me this week, Monday or Tuesday. Guess what? Nothing.
Just called their lost/stollen Dept to be told. "Well it wouldn't come today as there's a postal strike" Excuse me, the Postman has been this moring. They don't even no when the strikes are on and can't even tell me if a new card was ever issued, let alone sent. Now I get told. "Wait till Friday and if it's not arrived, call back and we will cancel that card and issue with another one" Oh righ, another week to wait. It's already 3 2 weeks late. How many delays to they have to come up with?
Why can't they seem to get their stories straight. I already told the woman straight from the start NOT to ive me same excuses everyone else has been given as I heard the all.
The newest excuse is, can get into their computers but won't tell them where my new card is! Can't be bothered more like.
The only thing she did tell me was, my card is with the post office...GREAT!!! Lo of good there.
Anone else still waiting? Please do not feed the Trolls!0 -
Well my card still hasn't arrived, & I was sick of being fobbed of by CS so I made a trip to my local branch today.
Helpful lady got in touch with card services who told her that the reason I hadn't received my card was because it was never issued! Why? Some rubbish about my address coming up unconfirmed when the card request was originally made, so the card wasn't sent. Oh great! I believe some other people have had the same problem.
Anyway she ordered a new card for me there & then and I'll just have to wait for it to turn up (and keep my fingers crossed that it does!). She at least gave me a direct number for my branch & said to contact her if it doesn't arrive in a couple of weeks.
What really annoys me is that I was given a load of old flannel by CS about floods & strikes instead of telling me that the card hadn't been issued at all. Rubbish really. The only thing she did tell me was, my card is with the post office...GREAT!!! Lo of good there.
It's still possible that it's in the post to you, my mail is painfully slow to arrive at the moment, I received 3 items today posted on the 27th, 28th & 31st July.0 -
How on earth can they blame the floods when the problem with Abbey cards has been going on since June? Family member of mine had the same problem as many of you but it was back in June.0

Pretty good idea eh?
Transfer ALL the money to a non-Abbey account, then close the Abbey account. Even better idea, eh?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
