THank goodness for this site, bringing up difficult but essential issues like this. My dad died when I was 15 and then we were 'exoected' to have a shroud. Poor man ended up looking like the pope, but they put a skull cap on him largely to cover a head injury

Better to remember a loved one in 'normal' clothes. My Nanna wore a new nightie which she had not had for long, she looked like she was ready for bed bless her. She had been very ill and this was the most appropriate, the only thing she was ready for was sleep;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

when my mum died we took in her fave outfit including shoes. she had a rose from each of her grandchildren to hold and some of them wrote little notes to her as well which were with her. when we went to see her she looked lovely - the funeral directors is owned by two women and one of them is a qualified beautician - they had dressed her, washed and done her hair and her make up and painted her nails, my mum was always very smart and to see her like that was very comforting to us all. she had died very suddenly and when i had seen her in hospital it had been very upsetting (hospital gown etc) but my last memory of her is of her looking lovely which was/is a great comfort'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Sorry for your sad loss. when my dad died just before christmas last year, we took the suit he had bought himself especially for him to be cremated in, Is this a burial or a cremation? the reason i an asking is because there are certain materials that would'nt be suitable according to our undertaker. If it is to be a burial then anything of your choice would be okay. Yes we did provide underwear but I can't recall shoes, hope this is of some help.:jWeight loss slimming world Starting weight 12st 2lbs. Target 10 st -4 -1 sts -1/2 -2 1/20
