You might be able to phone your local station/101 to ask if there's been any follow up.

They can give you the crime reference number and maybe even arrange a site visit from someone that could have a look at your yard and discuss anything you can do to help make it look less attractive/ secure it against thieves.

I'm my area we've a number of lovely PCSO's that do community policing work like this - might take a week to schedule in a visit depending on your area.

The offer of tea and biscuits is always appreciated but not often accepted
I was told on the phone by the call handler as I had been on holiday I had no way of knowing when it had happened then there nothing they could do other than log it down as you have called to report an incident, basically they didn't want to send anyone round (and no one came round) due time lapse, and wanted me to ask neighbors if they had seen anyone or heard anyone, I did ask them as my neighbor was feeding my cats for me, but she didn't notice the window was praised open at the top, and didn't hear no one, I had no new info to call them back with. he just gave me a log number which I gave the surveyor the original piece of paper I wrote it on in OCT.

I haven't seen a PCSO on my estate for a over 18 months now and unless you know info of illegal drivers and drink drivers and can point Anti social behavior teens in the area with names to them they don't want to speak with you when they did come here. I have no confidence they would assist in this private matter.

Just posting to suggest, to you and other posters with issues, that presetation of your OP does matter (whatever the rules).

I too could not be bothered to read the whole OP which seemed to ramble, and difficult to follow/pick out the relevant bits etc. so I skipped to responses in hope of an over-view, or to see if the issue was resolved.

This is intended to help you, and others, get best response (i'm not responding to the issue) - it is not just a pointless critism
  • No I did have a log number (until I gave the surveyor the piece of paper I wrote it on I didn't keep a copy) as the police said they couldn't do nothing due to lapsed time and nothing was taken as they didn't get in etc, I passed this to their surveyor (second time as I emailed it to them in sept 14) and heard nothing back. I know my tenancy agreement states a crime number but what can I do when they the police call handler doesn't and only gives a log number.

If I'm reading it right you went on holiday for two weeks and discovered the damage when you got back. But the police wouldn't crime it?

That's bolloxs the damage occurred between went you left and returning home and yes it can be 14 days. You should have been given a crime number for either damage or burglary depending on the evidence. (It's called ethical crime recording)

If you lost the reference number why didn't you ring and get it off the police?

If they haven't recorded your crime they've either neglected their duty or there is clear credible evidence your story doesn't add up.

where did I say I lost it? I said they must have lost when I handed it to the surveyor!

I was given a log number! what you reckon they should have given me is different then that's not my fault, if I was given a crime number I would have said I was given a crime number but haven't been given one so if they did the wrong thing then go into work on your next PSCO shift and remind your bosses and send them internal email to that link on how to record things properly now theres a good chap! end of subject on what you "think should have happened" because it happened the way I said it did.

gather evidence from where? over the phone! because they never attended the property, and asked me to ask neighbors if they had seen or heard anything and if they had then call them back with the LOG number and pass the log number onto the HA I had no reason to call back as I had no relevant info and I did so twice infact pass onto the HA the log number not much else I can do from there is there!

comforting to know your following me around the forums any reason why? bored? emotionally attached? looking for a date (sorry I don't swing that way and I'm married BTW)? and I don't need any pets right now either so move along... shooh......

Is a crime number not the same as a log number? I've been given a crime number over the phone before without a Police Officer having to visit.

Even if a log number isn't the same thing, why don't you ring the local Police station or whoever you rang about it and ask them to give you the number they gave you before, then pass that on to the HA again? At least then they can see that you have reported it.

I'm sorry you don't like the truth.

A crime should have been recorded so I suggest you rant at your local police for neglecting their duty and not on here.

Don't swing that way, I'm female.;)

    No it's not the same.

Either the local police think he did it himself or he's been let down. But it appears he doesn't want the truth.

There help out there for that sensitive issue. http://www.supportline.org.uk/problems/gender-identity.php
I'm not into this either sorry to disappoint you.

sorry your the one calling me a liar, I think you have the inability to accept the truth.

Your were one who brought up the issue I merely "suggested" you tell your call handlers, PCSO's and specials and bosses to record the issue properly and send them the link you have provided to ensure they don't so it again as you seem to wonder the forum telling people how it should be done, (I personally think your too defensive about the forces mistakes being on the forums, they are human mistakes they do happen now and again, do you get brownie points and an extra biscuit with a cuppa for defending mistakes and making people out to be liars on the forum? arrrrggghhh bless!)

Now I know I can I look into the matter I will. but I'm not psychic I didn't know the were going to recharge me for a window that I did not damage and during the week I somehow had psychic premonition that they were going to send this letter to me and receive it this morning so I should look into getting a copy of the LOG number as a preemptive move (that is supposed to be a crime number as you say) and sort it all out before I had the letter before today.

if I had that psychic ability this thread wouldn't be here now would it.

Regardless of log number the advice it seems that it would or shouldn't be chargeable in any case, so your argument about the call handlers mistake and such is a non starter.

so I will look into the log number with the local HQ to see if I can get it and forward it on for the third time to the HA on Monday. Don't worry i'll be polite to your mates on the phone!!.

your job is done here PCSO haggis you may now be dispatched back to motoring to find another member to follow I said I don't have time for a new pet, I don't have tea and biscuits to feed you all day and I'm afraid you'll starve to death in the pen out back.

Thanks everyone who have given help. I will call (local police HQ) and then get hold of the HA and discuss the recharge. I just wanted to find out if they actually could recharge for the window. sorry some people have issues with not being "bothered" and get over loaded with "information" but that's not my problem it theirs.
