Account opened 3 days ago and both card and pin received already, I would be saying thanks and not moaning about what could of happened....0

I would complain. Propose that next time you have your own relationship manager sitting on your doorstep waiting to intercept your post if the disgraceful act of your card and pin come the same day ever again.0

Next someone'll be asking for cards to be sent in padded envelopes, to stop people taking carbon rubbings of the numbers.0

I think the only realistic solution moving forward is for account holders to have to collect the card and PIN from the PLACE IT IS MANUFACTURED (not local branch as it would only be posted there anyway). Thus removing any chance of TNT/RM staff intercepting and committing fraud, because as we all know everyone who works for these are fraudsters aren't they?
From a cost point of view it would save banks thousands of pounds, possibly millions and may help to prevent a future banking crisis.

For those using internet or mobile app, the banks could make the PIN available securely online, as Barclays already does.
This would require investment in the IT systems of all banks and changes to their pre-printed stationery and websites etc, but in the long run, it must be a way of saving significant costs as wagonloads of paper can be saved.
The printers, TNT and RM would probably not like it but it would be a great improvement for account holders.0
