What the vendor ought to do, and some do it properly, is cancel the pre-authorised transaction immediately they have an actual delivery transaction.
That's actually out of the vendor's hands in most cases because most banks / card issuers don't allow a pre-auth to be cancelled other than through the normal "end of day" banking process.0 -
Well they've taken the £35 yesterday but still £99 is pending :mad:0

Bumping this back up.
I can confirm that Tescos have put a hold on the £99 on my card yesterday, (not that it matters but it was £28 of fuel)
Not that I'm bothered, but if we filled up both cars on the same day, on my card, then £200 would be blocked. What happens if I only had £100 in my account, because it was the end of the month, and I spent £50 on petrol, would I be overdrawn? Or would the first transaction hold £99, and the second one be refused?I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Asda still only seem to take the £1, but this is putting me off P@P...

Bought £28 worth of petrol on 30 January and Sainsbury Pay At Pump are still holding my money today! This should not be allowed I'm sure they wouldn't like us to owe them the money for a week!0

If you used the same card or another on the same account you can only get £99 worth of fuel in a day. We can't full up both cars in the same day at Asda pay at pump.0 -

Surely with all their data, the supermarkets could calculate an 'average max' & only pre-authorise that amount (which would be considerably less than £99!)0

Thing is vans and vehicles such a Range Rovers have fuel tanks that will take £90 worth of fuel. They want to confirm they will receive the payment.0
