wow you achieve more than me on a weeknight evening Birdie! I can barely make dinner and hang the washing out!! Bet it looks lovely!!

MSE news.. made our first mortgage OP today! scary but the calculators on here make it seem sooo worthwhile even a few pounds seems to save loads over the life time so thinking to build up some emergency/holiday funds but try to put anything else we can to that..every little helps I guess! (also we owe SO much that it makes me feel very anxious sometimes so it helps me think like I'm tacking the problem!!)

Believe me Tink, busy weeknights like that are few and far between! ;) I have to empty some drawers tonight in preparation of furniture arriving tomorrow and I'm dreading it, give me decorating over decluttering any time!

Well done on your first mortgage overpayment! We've decided that we're going to put the maximum amount into this year's Share Save scheme (£250) and use it to go towards the mortgage in 3 years time. :) Will make my payslips look pretty sad though!

Finished your book over the weekend Dinah. :) Very interesting read. I reported several errors, not sure if that goes through to you? It took me about half way through to realise that you can do the 'Report content error' bit though and noticed some more before that so will have another read through and flag the typos.

Hope the resident preggo is OK?! :)

Love hearing about the decorating plans you lot! Until we get our own place I need to get excited about other people's plans instead, it's very sad :o

Well done Dinah on getting the book out! Must feel like such an achievement :T

Cinny, hope you're not too uncomfortable! Thinking about you, it's so exciting! :D

Is that £250 a month in the Share Save Scheme Birdie? That'll add up proper quick if it is! I keep thinking I need to sort a pension as my work don't currently do one but I wouldn't know where to start and I'm trying to put as much as poss into savings tbh.

Good idea Tink to start overpaying where you can, I hope to be able to do that, if I can resist booking holidays!

Hope you took your mum up on her offer Wendz, you need to be looked after too!

Our furniture has arrived! I booked the afternoon off in case I'd have to wait in for it, looks like I'll be building all afternoon now! Hopefully DH will have made a start, although he's got the added pleasure of having his little helper getting in the way (he's off to MIL's as normal this afternoon!). Looking forward to having it all done now, although I may have to go back to Ikea yet again for more boxes and some cupboard inserts for the storage unit in the living room (already been twice in 1 week!)... never thought I'd say this, but I'm kind of bored of the place! :rotfl:

Yep Zig, planning on putting £250 into SS. It's good that it comes straight out of my salary pre-tax so it's not missed but it's a big lump, normally we put in around £50/60! Some people put the max in each year and it's on a 3 year rotation so £750 a month goes towards savings! If only we could afford to do that! I've got no clue about pensions, I just get letters a few times a year about my work one but don't pay much attention to them :o

    Cinny where are you?

Sounds like you room is really coming along Birdie.

I only started a pension last year when they did the auto enrol thing.

My mum came up for the day Saturday and ex took girls out for dinner Friday and Heidi out yesterday afternoon so feeling a bit more human now!

Still here! Still pregnant! Booked in for the stretch and sweep next Tuesday so would be really grateful if he could come out before then :A

"Met" a group of girls due around the same time as me on social media and out of the 8 of us it's just me and one other (funnily enough with the same due date) left standing.. two were even due after me! Very adorable to see all the babies but equally, what's taking mine so long :o

Can believe you're sick of Ikea, Birdie! When we were doing the living room/office/nursery I felt like we never left the place :p Once everything's built, all the boxes are in the recycling (or just put where you can't see them) and you sit down with a cuppa, it'll be worth it :)

Glad you're feeling a bit better, Wendz! Must be difficult to take time for yourself when you need it with having two so little.

Awesome to hear people OPing / planning to OP their mortgages. That really is the next MSE step! Hoping we won't be too far behind :)

Hope he makes an appearance soon. Sounds like a typical boy to me :). In the meantime walk up and down the stairs sideways eating a hot curry :rotfl::rotfl:.

Oh I hope he puts you out of your misery soon! I lived on spicy food for the last 2 weeks... unfortunately it did nothing! Nor did walking, bouncing on a gym ball, poking my bump and shouting 'Get out!!!'... lazy little sod! :p

Furniture building went well yesterday but I didn't get as far as I'd hoped. Built the wardrobe (and was stupidly impressed with myself since it kept reminding me all the way through the book that it's a 2-man job yet I battled on without help... for 4 hours!) and got the body of the chest of drawers built, ran out of time/energy to do the drawers! DH had built the unit for the living room by the time I got home so today we just have to do the drawers, 2 bedside tables and a bookcase. Easy! :)

I played badminton at lunchtime before doing all of this and took a big tumble (fell over my feet :o) so I was actually battling on with a big swollen, stiff, bruised knee too which slowed me down and really bl00dy hurt whenever I knelt down, which was a lot! :p We're going out on Saturday night (first proper night out in I don't know how long!) so of course my knee is going to be nice and black/blue/green for it, I was planning on wearing a nice little dress... pffft.

Glad you're feeling more human Wendz! Having that little bit of break makes a world of difference!

Unfortunately last night was rubbish again. Both girls are coughing and spluttering everywhere! Ah well I will pay my revenge when they are teenagers.

Ouch on the injury! Hope it gets better quick.

I have done something mse today and finally switched my energy. The saving should pay for Poppy's new ballet lessons she has just started.

Hi all - wow I have been away for ages, lots to catch up on. I'm off to London tomorrow so have just nabbed a copy of your book for the journey Dinah, need to remember to charge my Kindle up now! Well done on publishing it, huge achievement and really looking forward to reading it although I have a strong track record of crying on public transport so I may in be in trouble.

I have some strong room envy after seeing all the lovely furniture and wallpaper - love the Brighton paper especially! We finally sorted out our spare room at the weekend as it was becoming a bit of a junk room, I started off putting my record player and all my records in it but somehow ended up with a sofa and playstation in there too so it has inadvertently been transformed into a man cave...

Hope your girls feel better soon Wendz! And hope Fox doesn't keep you waiting too much longer Cinny! Can't wait to see him!
