Yes someone may have but that's not really the answer is it ? Define the problem please.....
  • ok a clean install of OPENELEC (standalone) on a intel NUC , using a 30g ssd , the machine runs xbmc . the install can be seen over my network , and I believe its only created a 20meg partition. I would like to use the spare 29.5 gig to hold films , I can see folders over the network backup/music/update etc etc the files are not viewable from windows . I tried removing the drive and formatting the empty space , but no boot afterwards.

with this being a standalone openelec , I cannot see a terminal.

on the nuc (openelec) it shows /dev/sda1 (my main computer) and /dev/sda2 size 27.1g used 577m available 26.6 2% used.

the reason for asking , I would like to install a 500g/1gig dive with the OS and a lot of space to store films.

in windows I can add files in a folder and see them , but cannot make a new folder
  • Have you got a ftp server on the NUC, then try Filezilla, but surely it accepts telnet / ssh connections then use PuTTy http://www.putty.org/
  • cheers entered ip , asking for user name and password , openelec has not got a base system , with user name / password.

    They may help
edit: Looks like root / openelec
  • ok I,m in , made a new directory in the root (test) can see it in openelec (search) , but not showing in windows

Not familiar with openelec but usually if you are trying to view Linux partitions using a Windows system then windows usually ignores them.
However if you do it the other way round and use a Linux system eg Parted Magic, Puppy Linux, Linux Mint etc then you can usually view all partitions including windows ones.
  • ok , well thanks for your help so far , at least now I have the correct programme , and access

have a nice day you stupid ignorant idiot
