Anyway, little need for speculation as the MS event "Windows 10 - The next Chapter", is only a few days away (on the 21st)...Where all will be revealed....0

I meant more details about W10 and it's features and a possible roll out timetable. Either way, it will hopefully move things forward and kill the rumour mill a bit.:)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I've been using Windows 10 preview since launch on my HP laptop, works like a dream already. All the good features of Windows 7 and the speed of Windows 8.10

Thanks. I have always struggled with Windows 8 and 8.1 although I manage. When frustrated I revert to my old Windows 7 laptop.
Even with Classic Shell Windows 8.1, for me, is not as good/comfortably familiar as my Windows 7 although it is faster and has some features I like. I'm not kean on touch screen - from years as a typist I prefer the laptop keyboard.
From what I prefer and from your first hand experience do you think Windows 10 could be a good thing for me? Maybe not too money saving but I have some Christmas money to treat myself - if the cost is not too prohibitive..
I'll be glad of your opinion, thanks.

You don't have to use the touch screen for anything. The keyboard and touchpad will get you around W8.1 quickly.
What is it that you get frustrated with?

Thanks RumRat. I'm encouraged that Windows 10 might be an easier way forward for me.
I'm a slow learner and often I just can't find things as quickly as I used to. Even recent documents escape me at times and I don't like the way attachments open. Downloading things is different too and it doesn't seem as easy to locate things from the start menu. I suppose I really would like the benefits of windows 8.1 and the familiarity of Windows 7 at the same time . My printer is compatible with Windows 8.1 but somehow it's not as easy to print what I want first time.
Thanks for replying.
