    Update:

Final bill already generated (much sooner than expected) and Direct Debit amended to be just under £6 which will come out around 05/03/15. So that pretty much covers the line rental between my last bill and my port out date.

Will do what should be my final update when it is debited.

Thank you for the updates - I have just noticed they have charged me an ETC despite me not using the PAC until after the expiry date of the contract. Given your explanation above about their billing system, I will hold off calling them and we can then see if they do indeed refund the ETC/line rental automatically and correctly.

Incidentally, according to an email from Affordable Mobiles earlier, T-Mobile and Orange brands are disappearing at the end of this month (no new contracts available on their network after that point through Affordable etc) as EE are just operating under the EE brand from that point onwards (I assume for new customers).

Okay, I bottled it, sorry :o. As I was having problems on another contract, I phoned them up to enquire what would happen to the ETC - I was initially told that it had been charged and was non-refundable, and that my advanced line rental was also gone in full despite being two days into the new month "according to the terms of the contract". I calmly explained this was not correct and spent 45 minutes on the phone while they worked it out - the upshot is that the ETC has apparently been refunded (will wait to see as it will take 7-14 days to arrive  - no real reason why it should take that long) and the advanced line rental "should" be sorted on the final bill (no idea why it is sticking to the original billing cycle dates when my contract terminated when my number ported out).

Their systems really need looking at - my other issue was that I noticed I was suddenly getting charged for making calls on my wife's phone even though we hadn't used more than 20 minutes of the inclusive allowance. I ported a number in to a T-Mobile contract and it has apparently reset my allowance pro-rata (we had only used 20 minutes on the "temporary" number and are a few weeks into the month). They have as a gesture of goodwill (!) credited the call charges back for the minutes I have been charged for that should have been within my allowance, but still have no minutes for the rest of the month on my ported in number until the allowance kicks in again :(. Odd, as the data and texts are fine, it seems to be the minutes that have been messed up and now have effectively lost the remaining minutes of my allowance for this month.

    Update:

Final DD came out on 05/03/15 of around £6 as per my final bill.

I'll keep an eye on the DD for a month or so just in case they slip any extra charges in but I don't expect anything further.

The last thing I feel I should point out based on a friend's recent experience with a mobile company:

It is crucial that you never cancel the DD with a mobile company because even if you believe charges are unwarranted any missed payments could badly affect your credit history. Much better to challenge misunderstood or incorrect charges and get a refund if due than end up with defaults on your credit file which are much more damaging and difficult to remove.

The DD will be removed automatically by your bank after 12 months of inactivity but I think after 3 months of inactivity it would be safe to delete yourself if you don't like it appearing in your list of DDs.

If you ask for your PAC after the end of your contract will they charge 30 days line rental or just the the days between the end of contract and the PAC transfer?

As a 30-days' notice is required to cancel, they have to charge you for 30 days.

    No reps here.
And what you were told was obviously incorrect.

Received my next bill - despite getting a refund of the Early Termination Fee last month, they have now charged me a "Notice Period Charge" of £2.88 - what is this for? I ported my number out 2 days after the end of my 24 months contract?

I also made the great mistake of transferring my number back to T-Mobile on another contract (set up through Phones4u as a cashback deal that I cannot claim on as they went bust!) - it turns out that this results in your monthly allowance being split between the "old" number and the "new"/transferred in number - as a result, a bill for nearly £30 for call charges despite (overall) not going over the minutes allowance . I had mentioned the call charges appearing suddenly appearing on my bill despite not using most of my allowance and they said they would credit it back, which they haven't done.

    Another call tomorrow then!
