Experian. Search errors and balance errors, why?

Options
First let me apologise if this thread is a bit longwinded, I am on a lot of meds for my spinal injuries and I am unable to sleep etc...sorry.

I have checked my recent credit report, shows that I am using 55% of my credit that is available, yes it was Christmas. I however paid my card in full on the 7th of Jan, but the outstanding balance of debt is showing as £1006 yet my online cc statement shows os balance of £487.22 and that was on the 7th of the month....Experian's update was the 11th of the month but has only shown up today on my file.

Confused how this figure has come about, more to the point how do I change it? is it worth changing? why do your reports always seem to be out of date by at least a month or more?

I also have a search registered against my name as a credit sale. I believe its my partners sofa purchase. I paid the deposit via debit card but didn't sign or enter any contract. How do I remove that...How has this even been registered it is BARCLAYS PARTNER FINANCE (DFS)....Surely this has an affect on my CRF?

Any ideas please thank you

Because its costs time and money to keep sending the data. To most people it wont matter whether the report is days old or 3 months old.

For DFS to search your file you must have given them enough data.

I gave them my debit card nothing else, I didnt give authority for them to search my CRF.

Can anyone give advice as too why they would search me when I have no credit with them?

    Thanks for help

Is it an actual credit search or a soft search (eg quotation or something that only you can see and not lenders)?

Do you have any joint credit commitments with your partner? is she listed as a financial associate on your credit file?

Do you and your partner have the same name and date of birth? If not then you must have given them your details for them to have found your credit file.

You can ring any lender and ask them to update your credit file - all of them can do so at any time. Unless you have a reason for needing your file up to date now (i.e. are applying for a new card/mortgage/loan etc.) then it's easiest just to let it sort itself out.

Experian may have updated you're credit file on the 11th but the Credit card not send them upto date information till the 12th so you would be a month out of date, not a big matter rally.

As for the sofa, you say you paid the deposit using the debit card, however are you using finance to cover the remaining cost? in which it is credit. Did you and you're partner both but names down on the sofa? in which case it could be a joint application.
