Maybe think about descaling your kettle?
And how does the cost of regular de-scaling factor in?

I don't boil a mugs worth for the same reason, bottles of de-scaler are £5+ a go and I live in a hard water area.

Not having a go, just curious.

white vinegar for almost free or even the `oust` descaler is £1.29 , not sure where you shop for your descaler , Harrods?
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Just get it from a local hardware store. It also requires boiling a full kettle so energy and time lost there too.

Thanks for all the responses, some have really tickled me - suggestions like hold the switch down with a breeze block are hilarious.
Thought there might have been an easy fix, but hey ho.
Looks like a pan for a time while I ebay some rubbish to earn a new kettle.
Off to experiment making a mountain out of a molehill in the microwave lol

Just make sure your mole hill doesn't contain any moles, otherwise you microwave is going to be ruined.
