  • Afternoon all.

I am pleased to report heating is fixed and a new tap installed. Cost was £430.80  and the system needs flushing through properly in the future. And my boiler is really old, contains asbestos and will fail at some point.

    Congratulations CarolBee x

TiredTrophy, I tried to find a plumber via twitter. My request had lots if RTs but nothing. I do complain via twitter if I need to. Got a £5 voucher from sainsburys because I complained.

I now need to clean the bathroom cos the plumber drained the tank into my bath and the sludge was horrendous.

I'm just decluttering some Xmas biscuits and a coffee 1st.

Oh and I have to put everything back in my airing cupboard. It needed a tidy up anyway.

    Take it easy IslandMaid

  • Good Afternoon everyone, CAROLBEE congratulations on the safe arrival of your new grandaughter wonderful news.

    Aaaaaagghhhhhh!!!!! Builders!!!!! Plummers!!!!!! Aaaaaggghhhhh!!!!!

I've both bathrooms out of use as they have decided to work on both at the same time which means long waits to have a wee!!! Then the wretched plummer this morning told us he didn't want to install the shower we'd bought and paid for as the wall is too thin and it will be too difficult. Then he proceeded to barrack us into buying of all things a 'Digital Shower' which is one with no controls to adjust in the actual shower but with an electronics box on the wall and a handheld controller which you use to turn it on and off. He wouldn't let either of us get a word in edgeways and ordered the perishing thing there and then. Why don't people listen? All I want is a basic shower to get clean with not a gadget which he sold strongly because apparently you dial in the heat you want and 'Then you don't have to get a cold hand testing the water to see if it's hot enough, the little hand held will 'beep' when the temperature is right, Isn't that good?' he said also it's only slightly more expensive than the one you ordered, Oh yes said I how much is slightly? £150 extra, which is apparently only a very small amount of money and not worth quibbling over!!! Not my favourite person and now I've got to try to explain to the builder why I'm not having his stupid digital shower, wish me luck!!! OK rant over, thanks for listening, sorry to unload, Lyn xxx.

Mrs LW First of all (((BIG HUGS))). Now, go and channel Wolfy at her worst:
"I said I don't want a digital shower, so I DON'T WANT A DIGITAL SHOWER". I can do a LOT with that extra £150. I don't care if I get a cold hand testing the water. I like getting a cold hand testing the water. Who's the customer here??"
If all else fails, can you get Docky to bite his bum?:rotfl:

Oh mrsmortenharket, i think you are probably much more expert at twiter than me.! I just look over my OH s shoulder! Is the boiler fixed yet? Our new place has a wood stove but i would worry with less able people and children about as it gets really hot. It was great when the area heating went down. Being Switzerland, it was fixed very quickly . Luckilywe are tenants...i believe it was very expensive as everything is .Our six children are grown up and left home. We will be visiting them as the flat is tiny.
which reminds me, i always number my children but some people put them by age.....does it matter? I can remember their order but get the ages mixed up!

    Evening All
Mrs LW stick to your guns. You are the customer.

Mrs MH last year we decided to change our boiler, a local plumber, just starting up fitted it for us, it was one of these with a 10 year warranty. By having the Warrsnty we could stop our BG service plan, and I think it paid for itself in just over a year. The extra bonus is we have reduced our gas usage quite a lot.
Been to Aldi today for a stock up of fresh food. Still using fridge and freezer up before our next trip.
    B-Yogurt Porridge
L-Slimfast (use up of powder and soya milk)
D-2nd half of Salmon Wellington, with new potatoes, cauliflower cheese, sprouts, carrots & parsnips.

Did anyone watch Foyles War on ITV on Sunday Night? I just thought how it was like history repeating itself with UKIP Offering what they are selling as an easy answer to a very cool plea problem.

    Take care everyone. DG

Mrs LW I just thought of something else....
A digital shower that obligingly tells you when it's at temperature takes away the fun of aiming the cold water at your DH's ...er... delicate bits, and then looking all innocent and pretending you had no idea it was still freezing cold....:whistle::whistle:

  • Good Evening everyone.

Congratulations Carolbee on the new arrival.

Hugs to all who are poorly and those having trouble with tradesmen:)

Had a better day at work today all went well and we even finished 5 minutes early, but got soaked walking to the car:mad: It had stopped when I got there.

DD had an exam this afternoon, so picked her up at 3pm went home, then dropped DS at work before going to the gym.

Dinner tonight was pasta with sauce and mozzarella with salad.

Have done a wash and put it on the airer.

Hope everyone stays safe in the wind and snow. Not sure we will get any snow - I hope not.

Have a good evening all x
