O/S Daily Tuesday 12th January 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, but looks damp underfoot and a bit blustery.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was chicken in a mushroom sauce with egg fried veg rice, was delicious, clean plates all round. Tonight we’re having pork casserole, going to get the slow cooker out and chuck everything in and put a layer of potatoes over the top – haven’t cooked this cut of pork before nor have I cooked it in the slow cooker, so hoping it turns out ok. Will do some carrots and broccolli with it.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, I got the remaining washing and drying done, so that’s ready to iron, but now there’s more in the dirty wash basket! I got the housework done – only a quickish go over everywhere but at least it looks and feels better, will then spend some time targeting individual areas that need more attention. Today I have a nail appointment this morning, so that will be good to get them looking decent again. Will then continue with the chores that need doing.

Have a good Tuesday everyone x

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good Morning nmlc and all that follow x
Yesterday was a mad day at work as the person i work with announced first thing that they was going home at 12 as they had a personal matter to deal with. So i spent the afternoon rushed off my feet. DD was complimented lots on her new look which is a god send as she didnt want to dress office but now is looking forward to it.
DH is in better spirits as he has heard about a few jobs that he can go for local to us.
Dinner last night was beef stew and tonight Dh is having cottage pie and we are having poached eggs, bacon and toms.
DW already emptied and tumble on last 20 mins so that will be sorted before work. Just have to face the ironing tonight :(
Anyhoo must get on. Hugs to all in need xx
    Bright Blessings xx

    Good Morning

Yes it is dark and blustery here too, I am going to have to walk to to the station today as there are no buses in London, I don't mind, but I hope that the rain holds off.

Whiplash was a fantastic film, if you get to see a free screening go and see it.

I had a look at that KonMari forum suggested yesterday and started reading the book, it does sound good, maybe this will help get rid of the clutter before we move.

This morning I also opened a savings account for Christmas and transferred£77.50 into it. apparently the average household spends £850 on Christmas so I've decided to set £77.50 away each month to help with cost. This year I would like to host Christmas in our new home, when we finally get it.

Anyway off to the shower for me and then a 30 min stroll to the station.

Have a lovely day everyone. x

    Morning all,

Absolutely chucking it down here its meant to clear up by 9 so we shall see, I see Scotland are supposed to get more snow from tomorrow, stay safe everyone.

Off to work today got one of my favourite clients in today so I look forward to Tuesdays at this site.

Went to cook the chicken breast's last night only to discover that OH had put them back in the freezer, so we had a quick pizza and garlic bread, chicken is for tonight now, I have one of those cook in the bag things, paprika flavour so will do some rice and peas to go with it.

Need to do a wash tonight and get it on the airer, and start an online shop.

    Have good days all xx

Morning all, trying to keep busy as granddaughter number two is in her way into this world, we had a text at 230am to say the journey has started! Didn't hear text but up at 515am and saw then and have been tidying and cleaning in a quiet way!

Champagne for dinner when safe arrival announced!

    Morning All

I don't think there's any snow here yet, just raining again! It was quite blowy last night but seems calmer this morning.

Had roast chicken last night which was really lovely (half price from Waitr0se), stripped it and put the carcass and some veg in the slow cooker last night and have just strained the stock off - I love the veg that has been cooked in it so will keep that for the soup!

Washing on airers overnight, seems just about dry but will finish DDs work stuff off in the drier.

Went for a swim yesterday, don't really feel like going after work but it does make me feel better after until I start nodding about 9pm! Anyway had a good nights sleep for a change.

Have a good day everyone, hope you are all well. Take care. XX

ETA - Just taken the recycling out to the bin and it has snowed! Better get my skates on and clear the car.
  • Morning all. Up this morning at even sillier o'clock than usual. I wish I could sleep better and I wish I knew what started these sleepless nights off. Already waded through a few jobs - quietly as don't want to disturb MrTA. Now just going to tackle the oven. I keep putting it off!

Yesterday we plumped for a bus ride to Ilkley as the forecast promised the rain would stop and we planned a walk on the riverside. Well, yes, it did stop but sadly the wind was as wild as ever and a riverside walk didn't hold much appeal! So it was a wander round the shops, including a trip into Booths Supermarket (the Harrods food hall of the north lol). They sell such lovely products but, sadly, at a price. But it costs nothing to look!

We treat ourselves to late lunch in 'Spoons, which kept us going to mid evening. Then just settled on a sandwich and bag of crisps whilst watching Silent Witness. It's getting as bad as Midsommer with all the murders!

Must get a few jobs done this morning but it would be lovely if we could manage a walk up to the moor this afternoon. If the weather permits!
Some eggs and mushrooms need using soon so probably omelettes for lunch and am going to get some ys smoked cod out of the freezer for tea.

Have a good day everyone and take care. x

Good morning all, have already been out and bought a pack of garlic bread from the co-op. Two loaves of part baked which will do nicely , one for todays lunch with my friend, and one for tomorrows night dinner with DGD Holly, good value at a quid for the two .I am making her lasagne as its her favourite.Cut right back on spending this month as I have far too much in store already.
Very windy and wet here in Kent and not a very nice day at all.

My oldest friend June is coming to lunch and I've not seen her for about 6 weeks so it will be lots of knitting and nattering as she has a new granddaughter

Tonight is quiz night at the local pub so its my night out :) quiz and supper all for £2.00 cheap at half the price :):):)

Hope all our friends in the north are keeping themselves battened down.Weather looks as though winter is really here at last, even though I have bulbs coming up in the garden !!!.
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

Morning all! Yesterday didn't end up being very productive, orthodontist took an unusually long time, then had a nasty sinus headache the rest of the afternoon. Hope it doesn't come back today!

2 supermarkets and Costco are on the agenda today, and choir tonight. Boys are hoping we get some snow. At least we'll be well stocked if we do get any! Steak pie for dinner using up beef from Sunday.
  • Morning, fine but wild here, it poured with rain last night, I could hear what sounded like a clock ticking, it was the rain dripping from the gutters. Letting agency said clearing the gutters was our responsiblity, sorry but its not. LL house LL responsiblity, in any case I am not letting an 82 yr old up a ladder, nor am I going up. Thats asking for trouble.

OH off to do research at the library, I will drop him there and then go on to Morrisons and do the little top up shop we need. He will get the bus home.

I did a towel wash overnight so its out on the line for a blow. I may need to finish it off in the dryer, its forecast to rain later.
