Morning all.
Dry and sunny here at the moment. Sitting here with my second cuppa of the day and the cat on the arm of the sofa.
Must run the hoover round this morning and then we have tickets for the Stephen Hawking film this afternoon.
Dinner will be using up the last two day's leftovers so a choice of beef casserole or broccoli and stilton soup!
Stay warm and dry if you can. Let's hope that rotten snow doesn't come this far south.0 -
Morning everyone.
Had the longest journey down this morning as there was heavy we sleet where I live and then snow from Inverary down. And then there's the odd car with odder driver who thinks that a thin sheet of snow means s/he cant' drive faster than 30 miles an hour. And then I spent a long time behind a snow plough which wasn't moving any snow just going somewhere else! Toughest part was over Rest and Be Thankful but only because of the tight bends, long drag up and huge lorries going the other way. Didn't want to end up rolling down the glen.
Camelot - there was snow lying in Balloch as I drove through it. Just wet stuff but still lying. Now it's belting down here in Stirling so just watching out and ready to pile into the car if it starts to lie too much. Got a load of work I can take with me if needed.
Got soup for lunch and bananas for snacks.
Hope everyone is warm and keeping well.0 -
Good morning everyone.
Well yesterday my heating system went down. Took me all day to finally get hold of someone who could or would come out. So he came last night. Diagnosed problem. And is supposed to call back this morning, I called him at 10.10, he said he would call back in 5 mins. No phone call. I'm so cross. No heating, he knows I have a disabled child who is half naked all the time. Grrr.
Also went to work for 12 yesterday as was due to start my in school first aid training. The nurse had gone home ill & no one had called me. I am getting paid for my overtime though as I turned up.
So far today I've not done anything as don't want to run the Hoover just in case I don't hear the phone. Not out the washing machine on as I don't want to stop it when he shuts the water off. Except I could have done 2 loads by now. I've no idea of I'm going to work as I've no idea when or if this heating engineer is coming to do the repairs.
I'm quite cross. And hormonal. Doesn't make for a good mix.
Dinner tonight is chicken wraps for the kids. And corned beef hash with cauli cheese for me & dh.
Congratulations on impending grandchild carolbee x
Well I'm going to go and get on with my day. And try and find another heating engineer.
Love, hugs and spoons xxx0 -
Oh Gers, your post brought back memories of our holiday in your part of the world last Easter. Had a lovely day in and around Inverary and a drive over Rest and Be Thankful another day. Such wonderful scenery, my camera was working overtime!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Good afternoon all,
Not a lot happening at Candlelight Towers, so it is lovely to hear everyone's news.
GERS I know by the news you are having dreadful weather, but I love the name Rest and be Thankful, take care of yourself and hope the cold is almost gone.
Carol congratulations on second grandchild, I hope it is here by now.
TTFTM and Molly sending hugs to you both
JUDI, doesn't Soldier look gorgeous? I bet you can't wait to see him now, and your DD of course. I imagine you will have quite a few presents for him by the time he arrives here.
Well, we popped to M&S to collect an order I had placed on line and popped into Te*co to see these bargains they were advertising. I actually found a few special offers but I normally find them very expensive, and their YS items are not reduced by very much at all. It seems to vary from branch to branch.
It is raining here again, although first thing it was lovely and sunny. I understand light snow is forecast for us tomorrow, I hope it doesn't settle because I am at the hospital in the afternoon.
I have a bolognese bubbling in the slow cooker, so evening meal will be easy just need to cook the spaghetti. Himself does get carried away, because I try to make enough for 2 days and it doesn't always work out that way.
Take care everyone

Hi all,
I,m still in bed - rough night with cold/flu.
From the sound of it its very windy and raining hard, but not cold - really feel for those of you that have got it worse - our main problem is when they cancel the ferries - the shops can look a bit sparse if it goes on for more than a day or so - good job we have the dooms day cupboard....
Dishwasher hasn,t been emptied - DS and DH have been in and out this morning, and there is quiet a collection of mugs and bowls around the kitchen - I,m not emptying it - I feel pants - and ran around for them like a mad thing when they had the lurgy - its a dishwasher stand off.........
LO pork and mash in a cider sauce tonight - if I can get up
GQ - hope your new washer is living upto expectations
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

It's so annoying when they "put something away" for you, thinking they're being helpful, when you'd left it out for a reason, isn't it?Went to cook the chicken breast's last night only to discover that OH had put them back in the freezer, so we had a quick pizza and garlic bread, chicken is for tonight now, I have one of those cook in the bag things, paprika flavour so will do some rice and peas to go with it.
Maybe next time put a post-it on saying - "Defrosting for tonight's dinner - do not touch".:rotfl:
My hearing aid has had to go away for repair.:( Hopefully I should have it back in about 10 days.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
