Ok, this is a good question and there hasn't been a good answer...until now. This looks a little goofy, but it is inexpensive and easy:
Buy the appropriate size "swimming noodle", those things that kids hit each other with in the pool; cut off a six or eight inch piece, or so, shave about an inch off one curved side--lengthwise, we'll call this the bottom; on the opposite side, trim a "groove", like a "boat" shape--lengthwise--this is the area that slides underneath the door.
The finished depth should be slightly snug. These allow you to prop the door in any position, they should withstand most light winds. I started with the skinny noodles, the way my doors are hung, these were not thick enough so I exchange the noodle for the larger one.
The downside: noodles only come in fluorescent type colors. There are probably other foams that will work, but these are easy to come by in the States and only 2-3 dollars for one which will produce 5 or more.
A serrated knife or electric knife works best to cut the foam. Don't have photos (yet).
This is my little invention--enjoy it!0 -
