I will definitely keep everyone up-to-date but if I go quiet it will be because I have nothing to report yet. I need to sort out someone to have a look at my computer first.

I have purchased a FixMeStick from Amazon. It runs from a USB device and you can purchase it to use on 3 computers for a year. It comes with help desk assistance for whenever you need it. I read a lot of good reviews about it before I bought it. I plugged it into my laptop yesterday and it took 8 hours or more to remove the viruses. I went to bed and left it to get on with it. When I went to use the laptop earlier it was much quicker and I have scanned and quarantined the last few issues. I then deleted the quarantined threats so hopefully have cleaned up the computer. I then installed Kaspersky Anti Virus protection. It would not let me do this until after removing the viruses.

Hopefully I will be all right now but I am still troubled by the fact I do not know where I went wrong in the first place. My son's computer has been even more compromised than mine by viruses which have taken over his control of it and also tells him his computer has been infected audibly.So I will lend the FixMeStick to him and hopefully it will clean up his computer as well.

I hope this can help someone as posters have been so generous offering me help and advice.
