Thanks for the warning handbar
and thanks to Debs for helping.
It's good to have people on here
who know what they're on about.0 -
Hi Handbar,
I totally agree with Debbie on the program that has been accidentally been installed on your system, i have done this myself a few times and sometimes it can slow your browser down. Although Malwarebytes as quarantined the so called items that was presented, those that originated from this installed program will continue to be quarantined until the program is removed from the system.
If this is a browser add on which i am guessing it is, you need to follow your particular browsers add-on help (i can not post links otherwise i would) which you can find by using google and type your particualr browser name and plugin or add on help like so "Chrome Add on help". Doing this will allow you to disable the particular program from you browser.
There is also a little bit more advanced way of getting rid of the program totally from your computer and this can differ depending on what Operating System you use on your computer for Windows 7 users it is as follows.
Start Menu - Control Panel - Uninstall A Program - Search the list for the particular Program i.e. "Game Master 2.1" and click on the file above the list you will see "Uninstall - Change - Repair" click Uninstall and it will start and uninstall program click your way through it and then restart your computer.
This second option is the best for ridding the program completely and get your system back to normal.
If you do it and run into any problems please PM me and i will help as best i can.
Regards,

Thank you so much Damo. I really appreciate the practical advice. I will have a go at working through it later.
I have looked but cannot see Game Master in list of programmes. The only programme I have downloaded in 2015 is dropbox. I am using Chrome browser and Windows 7.0 -
Ok then it is not installed on your computer but only in the browser. If you follow these then you should be able to see it.
At the right hand side of your web address bar is three little lines click this - a list will open and the very bottom above "Exit" is More tools which will open a second list - from this list select "Extensions" - You will now see a list of extension installed into Chrome, find this Game Master 2.1 and click the disable or uninstall.
There is also the option of a System Restore taking you computer back to a date before you installed Dropbox this can be useful when dealing with problems like this and you can do it by doing the following.
Click Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
System Restore will open and will give you the option to restore back to a saved way point in your computers history or you can choose a date which is more specific. Choosing a date is probably your best option and it should be the day before you installed Dropbox.
Once you have selected a date click through the buttons and the program will take over restart you computer and then remove the files that was installed during the time between the date you set and present (This will not remove any pictures or videos that you have downloaded or saved to your computer from an external source).
Once your computer as restarted you will be able to continue working from it as usual, however the System Restore may of removed Dropbox and you may have to download it again.
If this doesn't work then you need to have someone physically look at the computer.
P.S. I am not a computer expert, however i have had all these problems before and i spend ages teaching my self how to remove them. There is no need to download another program from a web page to help remove Malware programs from you computer because your computer comes with all the tools needed to do this type of stuff. Downloading more programs that say they remove other programs just leaves you open to more Malware or more junk programs that actually do nothing but advertise that it does.Compsnail

Just to note i have also downloaded Dropbox after going through your problem with you and it did not run a particular set up asking me to check and click next. Dropbox just installed. What i am trying to say is that this Game Master 2.1 s come from another freeware program that you have installed previously.Compsnail

Thank you. I did what you suggested but there was nothing in extensions. Then my computer crashed with a message that it was under threat. So I restarted it and ran another scan and I have more malicious issues so looks like I will have to get a professional to look at it. Thank you for trying to solve it for me.
Thought I would mention the latest scan highlighted
Rootkit.0Access.S
and
Backdoor.0Access
so definitely in need of professional help I think.0 -

I think you do! I think both are definitely viruses! Hope you get it sorted!Debbie0 -
Ouch. That sounds the best thing all considered. I tend to block as much stuff as I can rarely even trusting websites with my information. Thankfully MSE helps us band together and weed out the shoddy ones.
I use another app, which I saw advocated by someone in the open source community. It's called Ghostery and basically stops all the widgets on a site communicating with 3rd parties. Even more embedded things like Google Analytics.
Works so well it stops me entering some comps before I have to pause it's activity so I can enter what I purposely acknowledge as a site asking for this information. Seems a better option to me when comping increases the amount of sites I am exposed to.
I even block sites like Facebook due to my personal opinion on their data privacy policy. I'm probably tougher than most but so far so good.
Best of luck with getting that sorted. Hopefully it's a cheap and easy process to get it back together.“We are not interested in the fact that the brain has the consistency of cold porridge.” - Alan Turing (1912-1954)0 -
