Shower or bath

I'm a another one that wouldn't but a house without a bath (or at least the option of putting in a bath). I have no children or pets to bathe, but I love nothing more than relaxing in the bath, with candles, bubble bath and a book!
I also prefer corner baths - much more room to move around!Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

That doesn't sound relaxing - you'll ruin your book and give yourself eye strain!0 -
My expected layout for a 4 bedroom house would be walk in shower (as a minimum - would prefer bath and separate shower) in en suite to master bedroom and family bathroom with bath / shower over or bath and separate shower if there was room.
Have a look at new house layouts - they differ a bit on the ground floor but all have shower en suites and a bath in the family bathroom. Obviously they think that is the way to appeal to the widest audience.
If a house hadn't got a bath (or en suite for that matter) but had the space to add one I wouldn't rule it out but would offer accordingly.0 -

I love our corner bath too, I always use that one but hubby always uses the 'proper' bath in the ensuite.0 -
We are viewing (and from the internet it is our running favourite) a 3 bed house with only one bathroom that has a shower in. It is a big walk-in double shower and the bathroom is lovely, so it must be the current owners preference, but if we buy I will want to swap it for a bath with overhead shower. Which is a shame, as it is a lovely bathroom- I just hope it can be done without damaging the tiles etc.0

I think a bath is essential. People with children demand them, plus it's lovely to have a soak in a scented bath if you're body is aching.
If you have the space, you can have separate bath and showers, but I don't see why you can't just have a shower over your bath.
I've been to some real luxurious hotels where the showers are above the bath and they're fabulous. I actually prefer them in some ways.
If you check out Aqualeser showers they're one of the best on the market. The BMW of showers, and they have some gorgeous, and powerful, above bath showers that are amazing. Try and fir the biggest bath you can too. White pressed steel is best. If you have the space get an 18000 x 80 bath.....it's really long, wide and deep. A real high end bath with a gorgeous shower above it.....that's perfect in my opinion.
Just checked....the bath you want is a Kaldaweii, it's a German make and is the business.0 -
4 beds sounds family home to me, which in my lexicon dictates a bath. How else am I to tun "Operation Bath and Bedtime" with a shower?!
In fact, given some blinking long genetics in my family, we invested in a tub that will accomodate those of the 6'plus persuasion. We have guests who come not just for the food & friendship but to have a full length soak. (And a sign for the door to remind family that this time they *cannot* just barge in.)
Also, we went for enamelled metal to cope with the weight of water & the general abuse it would undoubtedly suffer & 10 years on, it still scrubs up lovely. I honestly don't think plastic could have taken the vigorous family living.
Now the lads have outgrown bath&bedtime (ish), they still like the bathtub and ye gods the other uses it gets put to.
We've made & sailed toy boats in it.
We've soaked rushes to make rushlights in it.
We soaked a socking great dogchew to get the rawhide sheets to edge sheilds with in it. (Great source of rawhide but very disconcerting to observe.)
Whenever the dry tickly cough bug circulates, all sufferers are packed off to bath (sometimes twice) daily to get the steam in.
When the mains froze, we filled jerrycans in the bath. You *can't* get those blighters into sinks - we tried.
Anyone with skin conditions that improve with soaking? Bathtub every time.
Having sons rather than dogs I can say that a bath is much easier for enforcing washing in, but you can share a shower if you must scrub the unwilling.
We routinely store dry bath towels & looroll in it.0 -
