I've got two shower cubicles, one in the bathroom the other in one of the bedrooms, so the only thing the bath is used for is to hang clothes on a rack to dry. But still in a family house it will seen as a must.

Baths are really important for pets and children. You can't exactly stick them under the power shower all the time, you know.

I say have both as when you do come to sell, more people will be interested of you have a bath.

I don't like the idea of baths as you are washing yourself in dirty water and it takes ages to fill one. I can have a shower in the time it takes to fill a bath.

Corner baths are bad. They're not comfortable if you want a good long soak.
Agreed, but they fit in a shorter space so sometimes it's the only option.

    I wouldn't buy a house that didn't have a bath either.

I could not be without a bath, I also see it as essential with young children.

Haha sailorsam, what we use our shower cubicle for in our house is for only hanging up wet clothes to dry LOL , no one uses it for a shower.

Have a bath - but not a corner one. They're so dated they put a lot of people off.

As the owner of two small children when looking for a 4 bed home we would not have bought one without a bath. As it is a family type home I would definitely leave it in.

I agree with those saying that *particularly* in a 4-bed house where your potential buyers will include families with children, a bath is essential.

Corner baths take up a lot of space, are not very comfortable, and look dated. But in a normal bath, or a P shaped bath with shower over.

I tend to have a shower most days but love to be able to take a long bath to relax - I would not want to live in a house with no bath - when I was househunting, having no bath put me off, as for me it meant that I would have to immediately re-do the bathroom as soon as I moved in, so I would only have considered a property with no bath if it was significantly better in other respects, and if I could negotiate on the price to cover the cost of putting a bath in as soon as I moved in. For me, a bathroom without a bath is not really fit for purpose, and that would be reflected in any offer I would make on such a house.

I think in a studio or small flat you might get away with no bath as there isn't always space, but not in a 4 bedroomed house.

  • Not having a bath would also put us off a house - although we don't have many baths it is always an advantage to have, especially when we have kids.
