Parking ticket at Amersham Hospital

Well, things have escalated a touch more today.
We received a letter from a company called "Small Claims Solicitors", in which they tell us that they are acting on behalf of UK Parking Control Ltd and have been instructed to recover the outstanding amount, which has now accrued to £120.
To quote the letter, "Unless our client receives full payment from you within the next 14 days, UK Parking Control Ltd may issue legal proceedings against you and obtain a County Court Judgment for the sums owed plus legal costs".
The letter goes on to state that "In the event that a County Court Judgment is obtained against you and payment is not made, our client will consider all enforcement options, which shall result in further legal costs, including but not limited to:
Instructing County Court Bailiffs/High Court Enforcement Officers to attend your address and remove goods to the value of the debt and costs owed.
Applying for an attachment of earnings order, requiring your employer to deduct sums from your wage and pay them directly to our client."
So, what to do now? Having gone so far, should we now capitulate and pay the money they are asking for? I wouldn't mind if they took this to court to be honest, I feel our argument is fairly strong against the fine being imposed in the first place. (The car park has 2 different operators; the NHS Trust employs a man who sanctions and directs people to double park from 8 in the morning. At 4pm, UK Parking take over. Their rules don't allow the double parking that happens during the day. Hence people who are double parked are expected to leave their office/surgery/clinic by 4pm to move their car if it is double parked. The ticket was issued at 4-10 that afternoon, just 5 minutes before my wife returned to move the car, which was the earliest she could leave to do so due to being held at work.)
I am still minded to ignore the letter and see what happens, although the letter does state in capitals: "IMPORTANT - DO NOT IGNORE THIS LETTER"
Any further thoughts good people?0 -
IGNORE them, its just another begging letter dressed up as if its from a solicitor, but any payment will be to the debt collector
put that long word in the search box to find over a dozen similar threads going back over 18 months
this gives it awayUK Parking Control Ltd may issue legal proceedings against you
its an LBC or MCOL from UKPC or the landowner that you need to take notice of, not begging letters with empty threats0 -
Well, things have escalated a touch more today.
Things have NOT escalated.
You have received another debt collector letter from a different debt collector. You have already been advised that you should ignore these.
How are you getting on with your complaints to the Hospital Trust, CEO, PALS, your Union, and your MP as already suggested?
This should be your main thrust, not wondering what to do about free bog paper and firelighters from powerless debt collectors.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
UKPC are liars and scammers and are using yet another manipulative, scare scamming tactic on you.
If you have a copy (we always keep one) of your wife's original pass application you will find that the trust have stated in black and white that they think they can "fine" you for parking violations.
The recent changes to the parking policy which she should have had sent to her last month state that UKPC will issue "fines" and "penalties" if their rules are not adhered to.
If they or UKPC took you to court as their first victim (highly unlikely) those documents would be dynamite!0 -
Just wanted to get some advice please... I was issued a UKPC parking ticket back in July 2014 and have had all the UKPC and DRP letters threatening court and fines going up and down and have just ignored them so far. There's been probably 5 or 6 letters in total I'd say.
Wanted to see if anyone knows how long this will go on for as it's coming up to a year now and still getting the odd letter come through. Some forums say ignore them all and some say get in touch and say you will not be telling them who the driver was and they'll go away... I'm getting pretty tired of this now and it's been something that's been hanging over me for ages.
I'm thinking of moving in the next couple of months and possibly renting my flat out so my concern is if this ever did get escalated and the tennants didn't forward on the letters could I find myself in trouble. I really don't want to get in touch with UKPC as then they'll have me on their records even though I'd never say who was driving the car.0 -
My thoughts are that they are weakening and will probably eventually drop the issue if we don't pay up. However, in the letter they do remind us of the perils of having a court case pending and the costs associated, not to mention the effect on our credit rating if convicted.
Did they say convicted? You can't be convicted of anything in a small claims court; it's purely a civil matter.
UPKC and their various debt collectors do have a habit of misrepresenting the facts though.0
