It does look simple enough... Getting a decent battery seems to be the issue.. A lot of people complaining about dodgy replacements.. Any suggestions where to buy?0

I'd just keep trawling amazon and ebay until you find one with lots of good reviews0 -
FYI - this is the article I read which mentions a company in Peterborough:

My Daughter was at Uni at Goldsmiths. Two years ago she needed a new screen and this was repaired very cheaply by a mobile phone shop near the tube station. There were two or three places around, none larger than a couple of phone boxes. I would think there are many similar places all over London. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0

Thanks for the tip. I have friends who've replaced their screens in those kind of places. I've actually replaced the back casing on my other halves iphone twice as it's very easy to do..
The battery replacement seems a little more tricky as a bad battery could expand, leak, or just make the phone not work and is therefore much more of worry than the casing I think... This is why I'm being selective with my choice of supplier/repairer...0 -
right to worry.............
we had ours replaced..............
all fine then backlight failed - everything working... except can't see the screen!
this was after having had new battery fitted for £20 - of course can't be proved!
DEAD phone - will sell for parts - perfect front and back screen.0
