iPhone 4s battery replacement London

My iPhone battery is dying at 20-30% so I think it's time for a new phone or to replace the battery.

Can anyone recommend a place to do this in London? I know Apple do it for £59 but I've heard lots of third party places will do it for around £10...

Anyone used somewhere that they thought were good and the battery is still going strong?

Thanks!

I'd always stick to Apple. For the simple reason that should anything else go wrong and you do want to take it to Apple for any reason they won't touch it after a 3rd party has messed with it.

Being a 4s it's not worth spending big money in though.

If its out of warranty (almost certainly it) your not in a rush you can do it yourself, from memory its I think 5 screws to undo and a pretty easy job.

Batterys and the requires small screwdrivers can be bought for a tenner or less on Ebay.

    Thanks for the replies.

It's about 2 years out of warranty, yes!

I looked at the ifixit thing and that could work fine but I also read about a great repair place in Peterborough that will replace the battery for £10. That sounds good to me, better than me doing it and about the same price.

I was hoping there would be somewhere as well regarded in London, where I am...

I would agree with you if it wasn't three years old. I'm never going to take it to apple to repair. Most likely this is going to be passed on to my dad to use and I'll get something newer. I thought it would be worth a try to replace the battery and see how it goes.

And you're right, getting it replaced with Apple is at least £59 and the phone isn't worth much more than that...

Apple would just try and get you to upgrade to a 5.

If they want to give me a 5 for between free and £59 then they have a deal.

They wont do that it will be a discounted price, but you can get an unlocked 5c from GIFFGAFF, which is cheaper if you pay an upfront fee.

I got one for only £9.11 a months ( phone only) after i paid £100 upfront or you can pay £299 outright

As said its not too difficult to do yourself.

    From memory.

    Remove screws by connector.
Slide the back upwards and then off.
    undo some screws.
the difficult part is probably loosening the glue on the battery. A hairdryer may help if difficult.
