I offered his client the hair dryer etc.. cheek of it,0

Can you give us any more hints on the identity of the muppet buyer that caused the problem?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Bit of an update, the Solicitor at the bottom sent a bit of a snotty e-mail saying that they "still had to consult their client over paying any damages". He also said that we should not be claiming for any food, a hair dryer, and an extension lead to use it with (so it would reach the only mirror left in the house!!).
Just wish you could claim for stress and misery!, complaint to the law society now imminent as he really should have checked that they had the position to complete. They boast on their website of being conveyancing experts, "in what I don't know".
Oh erm that's nice of them - it's only been a month.....
As for what you should /shouldn't be claiming for, ask him to kindly reserve their 'professional' advice for their client!0 -
I called the law society and they said I could make a formal complaint if I wanted to regarding all of this mess. I had to call the Solicitors at the bottom of the chain to get the chaps surname for the form. He was somewhat "kurt" when I told him who I was and then he got quite uptight when I explained why I had called.
He just said he was not prepared to talk to me about it as I am not his client and stated that I should not be making official complaints against him for his clients breech of contracts. He did let slip that his client "had not realized that he did not need to pay his stamp duty when he bought the house at the same time".
I thought at that point OMG some kind of job you have done here... surely you should have pointed that out???. He was very upset about the fact I was complaining officially and said I should not be doing it as I was not his client.
The paperwork is in with the SRA now so see what happens, in the meantime I do hope that at some point I will get my expenses back for this whole mess. I will keep updating this thread when there is news as there is so little on the internet about what actually happens when you fail to complete.0 -

Fine, shame he didn't spend more time talking to his client, frankly - hence your official complaint!
and stated that I should not be making official complaints against him for his clients breech of contracts.
Tell him that all his advice should have been and should continue to be to his client - you have your own legal team thanks.

I thought this person was of means? Where was solicitor advice at that point, then?

Chin up, you have them both bang to rights. Your complaint is valid and Mr celebrity Muppet owes you lots of money.

No TV as no sky boxes here, so when I say services disconnected im serious with the exception of electric and water.
If you're buying a house just short of a million pounds, I would expect you to have spare money to live in a hotel for a few days/week until it gets sorted.Just wish you could claim for stress and misery!
And this is the problem with society...
Have hurt feelings? You want money. Have a bit of stress? You want money. A little bit of bad luck? Money will fix that.
Money won't help de-stress you. It won't help with anything as the problem has come and gone. It'll only help with any hotel expenses; but in the grand scheme of your million pound purchase, it's pence.
Money makes your world go round and until you realise it doesn't fulfil you as a person, you will always want more of it.0 -
Quick google after that hint and I still couldn't figure out who the celebrity concerned is...:rotfl:
Mind you...I wonder if people figured out who the pickpockets were that stole some items from me when they did a removal job for me recently.:rotfl:
Hope this resolves satisfactorily soon.0 -
