help replacing pc dvd drive

My dvd drive has packed up on my desktop pc so I have just got a replacement. After taking the pc to bits I have realised that this new player has different plugs on the back where as I need a different style.
I bought the pc 6 years ago and the drive I have just taken out needs these connections-

I had no idea that there were different types. Can any one advise me the correct drive that I need to mate up with the pc (Acer). I hope this makes sense! Jim.

The second picture is SATA, you can get IDE to SATA adapters.

Does your motherboard have SATA connections? They look like this, yours may be a different colour.

Does your power supply have connections like this?

No SATA connections. It is an ACER T180 UB7Z.0 -

Is that not the same or similar to photo two?
If yes then it will also require an adapter as above post 4.0 -
Do you have SATA sockets on the motherboard? (Probably not if you have an IDE drive.)
Alternatively, you might have some luck with IDE/SATA adaptors... something like this, maybe:
