A spend of 29p yesterday on onions at L!dl. It would have been more but they had no milk

I'll be getting a small shop today as I still need milk, eggs and veg. I'm hoping to spend under £10. We still have a lot of meat in and the cupboard isn't that low yet.

I think I can come in under budget again this month as my month finishes on the 19th :j

  • Updating my total as promised! Grand total of £67.18 from Mr T's but forgot the milk so another £2.20 from local shop for 8 pints. I have now got LOADS in so will only need to do fresh fruit/veg/milk shop this next week (fingers crossed anyway).

    Off to update total.

and its nice to be back soworriedxxx I started work after being a sahm for couple of years and its in one of those big shops that sell everything for a quid so I have went mad first few months buying biggest load of rubbish, crisps ,sweets etc, this morning I did a full inventory of freezers cupboards ,I have enough food to last until my sons 30th birthday.............hes 10!!!!!!!!!! even toiletries store is ridiculous.so that's it its savings time for me we going on hols in june so I want to empty everything and just buy fresh fruit and veg and dairy . planning veg patch as I type so salad stuff will be covered when it grows also potatoes scallions and carrots and root veg in winter .......................well that's the plan...wish me luck!!! I do actually grow quite a bit so not too worried about the veg etc...its me in work that's the danger I must walk straight out door at end of shift!!!!

    Morning All :)

I had a NSD yesterday, and will do the same again today. I now have £80 to last till the 20th, which should be quite easy now that i am not eating meat or dairy.

I am spending a lot more on buying vegetables, but saving at least £50 a month. Because i am eating a vegan diet, the kids are only eating meat twice a week too, as i dont want to be cooking 2 different meals all the time.

I have a £7 off a £50 spend coupon for Morrisons that has to be used by Friday. So i think i am going to do a big (£60) shop on Thursday, and then leave £20 for fruit and veg for the rest of the month.

How does everyone else shop? Weekly, monthy, fortnightly, or just as you need?
  • Haven't done as well as I'd hoped this week. Meal plan went out the window on Friday, just couldn't be bothered to cook I was so exhausted! DH suggested dominos but went to Sainsburys instead to get a couple of their fresh pizzas and some beer for DH. Also got a couple of loafs of bread reduced down to 23p and some chocolate so instead of spending £20 on dominos spent £17.58 in there and had pizza two nights in a row :o

Also spent £1.75 mid week on hoummus and dips, fancied a healthier snack for work.

Weekly trip to Aldi today, meal planned for the week so only bought what was needed and spent £29.94. Total spends now stand at £91.62.

Cooking chilli today which I'll freeze for later in the week and have a lemon drizzle cake in the oven. Might make some cookies as well if I have time :D

    Meal plan for the week

Sunday - Toad in the hole with mash and veg
Monday - Chilli with rice and garlic bread
Tuesday - Chicken fajitas with wedges
    Wednesday - Beef stroganoff
Thursday - Homemade pie, mash and veg
Friday - Chilli with rice and garlic bread
    Saturday - Been stroganoff

I used to do a massive online weekly shop, but now, because I have so much in freezer n stores, I'm deciding meals to have out of what is there, rather than buying on a whim, n buy the odd ingredient to go with it, plus salad n veg stuff. I find it very hard, as I think im a bit of an addictive food shopper, but so far so good. If I get through this month, it really will be a boost for my willpower, heres hoping.

I totally understand what you mean, and i think i am an addictive food shopper too. Its slowly getting better, but i still have to battle the urge to go food shopping almost every night!

    Good luck :)

The total came to £3.20 as they had next to no veg left :( I'll have to go to the fruit and veg shop tomorrow now.
