Thank you - yes, it must have been. Apologies for any confusion - just because we're paranoid it doesn't mean they're not out to get us...

If the Co-op win then as per the prankster blog the could potentialy be open to claims from motorists who paid CEL to get their money back from the Co-op.
if this ends in a publicity campaign, press adverts in the same style as product re-calls asking for customers to come forward and then people getting their money back in store then all the better.

If it ends up costing the Co-op then so be it.
I've got no sympathy for any large organisation/large retail outfit that is stupid enough to take a PPC on and allow them to operate in a predatory manor in their car parks.

A case of "a plague on both their houses". The unfortunate employees will probably be OK because even if they lose the Co-Op will presumably pay on their behalf. A pity the Co-Op chose not to be quite so assiduous in defending its customers predated upon by CEL.

CEL must've been shocked when Co-Op decided to defend this. Not only will it already have cost them more in legal fees than they could hope to win (with more to come) but it sounds like some dirty linen is going to be washed in public. Would love to know what's in the "disgrace" letter!

Bookmarked and keeping an eye on this. Really hope CEL get strung up by the balls and gutted dry for this.

Disgraceful, pathetic excuse of a company.

People may vent frustration at COOP for letting a PPC patrol their stores but were they to know how they would act and operate? I think not....

If Deal are the DC, how can they bring a case?

And what were the parking charges for?

Once CEL stared sueing hundreds and hundreds of legitimate Co-Op customers and the Co-Op washed their hands of it effectively hanging out the customers to dry. They knew full well what CEL were like and deserve no sympathy at all.

I'm not sure who I want to win this. Can they both lose?

If the Co-op win, they 'lose' - a potential PPI-style reclaim against them awaits.

If CEL win, they 'lose' - the word will quickly get around to dissuade future customers and hopefully persuade existing customers to let current contracts expire and not be renewed.

So, whichever way this goes, it's win:win and lose:lose. Can't get much better than that!
