CEL turn up to court. 50 cases of ticketing their own customer's employees

Thanks to Parking Prankster for his latest blog:-

http://parking-prankster.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/cel-turn-up-to-court-50-cases-of.html#comment-form

Apparently there was some contractual disagreement between CEL and the Co-op, which resulted in the parking contract being terminated, CEL finally moving out on December 19th. CEL retaliated by ticketing Co-op employees then refusing to cancel tickets, with the result that CEL (and their debt collectors DEAL) currently have 50 court claims on the go against Co-op employees

What's that about the BPA Ltd "driving up standards?

Huge mistake asking for the cases to be stayed until this "super appeal" .
Especially now as Capita are involved, the chances of that going udders up is very high indeed.
They would have been better steaming ahead with each case by cases until CEL run out of money to pay the solicitors costs.
Whats 50x £350 plus court fees in total not less than £500
A £25K hit might teach them a lesson, counter claim for damages each case and they could bankrupt them in no time.

Was it only co-op employees who were being ticketed? IIMU that many customers were also being harassed, some for pre POFA events.

THIS case relates to PCNs issued to Coop employees after CEL were notified of the contract termination.

(It's not hard to read the blog and find this out). ;)

    What a nasty retaliation!

Says everything. Which organisation would ever consider them as an option?

I am struggling to understand how CEL think that they can make money from this escapade.

Cels strategy is to file lots of court cases, ratchet them up with fake costs and hope to bully the motorist into paying. Enough motorists fold to make this worthwhile. Those that do not...cel cancel one or two days before the hearing.

In this particular case this has now backfired. At £100 a ticket they will make £5000 from the 50 cases. The coop must have already spent that on counsel today. They obviously will not be backing down.

Definite popcorn time and what will happen to all the other cel cases?

Once again this shows that when a supermarket uses a PPC it will end in tears , I'm just waiting for Aldi to get the message.

Remind me why we're not allowed to call companies like CEL and Parking Eye corrupt scammers ????

You'd hope the Co-op has some membership of, or access to, a circle of major (and minor) retailers and will give them all chapter and verse on not only how CEL has acted here, but how any other PPC is also likely to follow suit (witness Sommerfield -v- ParkingEye).

When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn!

Lose customers, p/ss off staff, cause unknown grief, cost zillions in legal fees and potential cancellation charges. All so that a handful of rogue parkers (which no one here would condone) are chased off.

Economics of the lunatic asylum. Intellectually bankrupt!
