SJ has got artificial too and has had his much longer, so hope he comes along too
Only laid mine last September but is living up extremely well to the mad 25kg Springer racing/skidding/playing with the 20kg doodle daily! It is a grass recommended for pets, similarly they'll be recommended ones for kids.
Mine is laid on an MOT/hardcore base with a membrane, then compacted sand, but different companies will tell you different things, so will depend on where/what you buy I suspect.
Maintenance wise - mine doesn't have a sand infill (picked one that doesn't need one), but if you go for one that does, then that might need topping up.
I started by brushing mine to get leaves, etc that stick to it, but moved over to hoovering this year - much easier/quicker.
No other maintenance so far - it'll get a wash with the hose pipe if it gets dirty! Blades stay stood up as it's got a dense cross-thatch which does the job as well as gives it a realistic look. You can get varying lengths.
So many companies out there now that there is lots to choose fromBack on the DFW Wagon:

My brother has artificial grass in his back garden and absolutely loves it.
He washes it in needs be but generally just gets the hoover on it! Very easy to maintain. Let us know what you decide!

Don't give up on p-base, comes in fits and starts.. I like it as it's a quick screen out, but worth it when you do get through!
Friday already.. climbing place was good yesterday, though both littlies weren't that keen. Think it would be good for a party though so we said we would take them back and they both seemed keen to have another go.
Very boring on money front, no survey payouts today, no cashback on payable and no movement in the bank account.
Initial thoughts on artificial grass after some research last night is a no as we have quite a large area to do and cost would be too much.
Bit of a spendy day today I think. Ordered two curtain poles for collection from Arg0s - £41 down, but did get cashback for using fast track and £1 off to spending over £25.
Also need to get some compost today so a visit to the garden centre.
Need to post my fleabay parcels - more spends.
Have promised littlies a treat if they are super good helpers for me today (farm shop ice cream and playground) - weather is looking a bit dull though. That said, it is never too dull for ice cream.
1poll is at £36.85, so even to reach £37 this week would be good. Still waiting for p-base for credit.
Off to do a few m1ntv1ne surveys whilst littlies watch a bit of TV.
Still haven't done ironing or mended DS's coat. and an evening of work awaits me tonight.. sigh :-)DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Just checked mortgage account and it's down to £107,402.25 - those weekly overpayments all add up! However I reckon now with those in mind, a two block colouring in month is doable when the numbers fall right. I'll need to be about £400 within the next thousand down to achieve it.. so not yet.. but it would mean a month of mortgage OP's focus to do it. Totally your fault SJ!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Don't worry debt free I'm used to taking the blame!! as for artificial, we're into our 5 Spring/summer of it and it's fabulous. Was expensive, and we went for a high grade of it, but definitely paying us back now. It's been priceless in the winter with 2 boys and a dog. 15mins after it stops raining its dry in the back and they're out playing, no mud, no mess, no lawn mower! Our older day wasn't keen on it, but the puppy new no different so is fine with it. In terms of maintenance I brush it, pick out any small weeds that have blown across and try to bed into the sand (very small), then once a year I weed killer it all as a precaution. After listening to a few replies on here though I'm gonna give it a Hoover this year! I think after another 2 years we may need to roll it back and relevel some of the sand/hard court, but only because theirs a slight drop in the garden level (we did raise it all and level as much as possible with a step onto the grass from the patio), and I'm expecting it to droop (that said I've been waiting for that for 2 years now, so maybe not).MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

We might do it on the front as that is trashed from the trampoline and swings.. plus we have a high conifer hedge round it that is affecting the wall (our septic tank is under our front garden) and I'm worried the wall is going to go one day.. I just hate the thought of losing the privacy and the whole village seeing my smalls out there drying.. Plus it's a drop down to the road and the conifers keep the kids safe from that point of view.
Thanks SJ..DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Been Arg0s, and garden centre. Bought a few plants (unbudgeted for - but hey) Persuaded the hubby for a housey and garden weekend as we just have sooo many little piddley things to do.
He's also going to make the pallet mud kitchen for the littlies this weekend and i'm going to finish their fairy garden. Making a to do list and unfortunately mine looks way more than his (to be fair, his jobs will take longer)
Plus - slight squeal, just done a 50p survey on 1poll, they don't come along very often which means I'm at £37.35- wonder if I can hit £37.50 by the end of the day?
Just boiling eggs for lunch and then me and the littlies are going out in the garden for an hour or so to plant!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
