You really should not be using Internet Explorer version 8.

You first need to download and install the latest version of Firefox and THEN use the link in post #13 to add NoScript.

I have used Firefox with NoScript for many years and have never picked up any unwanted crap!

I did see a little 'No Firewall Switched on' banner[never seen before] in the blue strip at bottom right of screen, next to my tomtom ikon, but it disappeared.

Won't that have come on since all the malware things were reinstalled, updated yesterday? I did notice last night's updating took a couple of hours, long after I'd come to bed. I did get back up again to ensure I had properly shut it down.

Putah opened less noisily and a bit faster just now.

I also bought a laptop to take to NZ last year, but didn't as no-one could get it going here and so it still sits, virgin, behind me on printer as I write this.

Further example: last night, in bed and trying to read more from France. Blackberry just came up with usual 'no/insufficient connectivity' messages. It works instantly when I'm a mile or 2 away. Emails have never worked on it. Even this mob., bought a year ago, was a 'faute de mieux' choice, because my history here of trying to choose sth State-of-Art with i/net/calls/txt[which is all I really want]has ALWAYS meant returns of higher spec. devices.

Well, i HOPE I've downloaded latest version of FF and #13, but didn't go further to run 'latest version', when I saw publisher was 'bullyhippo'.

Yes XP is quite old now but that is why you really should use a proper supported browser e.g. Firefox that has kept up and get regular security updates. Even the latest version of IE is still playing catch up to it's piers and it is rumoured that Microsoft have now given up trying to compete with the other superior browsers.

On my system the first line on that page under the Firefox logo has a green tick and the words

"Congrats! Your using the latest version of Firefox!"

You should get the option to download the latest version.

Even when I try to open a pm in mse, only ads appear and the lower blue strip is also covered over at that time.
Now there's more and more, racing along top of screen as tabs. Huge delay as i type, yet can hear them all loading up ready to infect/drop in again.

All the little green ikons are peppering words, even mse banners at top of page are replaced by advertising - with moving film, like another tv channel, purporting to include 'news' - for all sorts of muck.
Screen overtaken successively by big yellow Norton ads, McAfee ads and loads more, all whole page, with the smaller ones.

Latest - found IE and google back again, have just removed, but have also lost my toolbar with bookmark tabs I used to click and open things, plus my entire years of saved bits and pieces.

Using mozilla, typed in 'mse forums' and have come straight here, within a second, but would love to have old toolbar back. Is there an import function? Also, a 'this program requires java script' keeps appearing when I start mozilla firefox, but it won't install, never has. # Microsoft silverlight is the other one that has never installed. It tried again today, while getting rid of chrome and IE again.
